Located in Arizona, USA, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is the world's largest aircraft graveyard. Spanning 2,600 acres (equivalent to over 1,300 football fields) in the Tucson desert, this "boneyard" houses more than 4,000 retired military aircraft and spacecraft. The arid climate here protects the aircraft from rust.

The return rate (or "brain drain") among students from China who go abroad for their studies has traditionally been low; however, the precise ratio—where seven out of ten students do not return—has been shifting in recent years. Although a significant segment still chooses not to return due to better career prospects, higher living standards, and a lighter academic workload abroad, 2024 has witnessed an increase in returnees, driven by stricter visa regulations and job opportunities within China.

On the first anniversary of 'Operation Sindoor,' the fourth Russian S-400 air defense system has been dispatched to India. This air defense system is expected to arrive at an Indian port by mid-May. Furthermore, the fifth S-400 air defense system is also scheduled to be delivered to India by November of this year. The S-400 air defense system delivered an exceptional performance during the four-day conflict against Pakistan last year, setting a world record by shooting down a Pakistani AWACS aircraft located 314 kilometers away. India signed an agreement with Russia in 2018 for the acquisition of five S-400 air defense systems; while three of these systems have already been received, the delivery of the remaining two has faced significant delays. Nevertheless, the Modi government has already given the green light for the procurement of five additional S-400 systems. These systems possess the capability to neutralize any aerial target located east of the Indus River in Pakistan, boasting a strike range of up to 400 kilometers.

The U.S. military has acknowledged that it requires an advanced missile defense system due to the growing threats posed by China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. A significant truth regarding America's security apparatus has come to light: the U.S. air defense system—hitherto considered the most powerful in the world—is, in reality, not as robust as was previously believed. This admission comes from the military forces of U.S. President Donald Trump himself. Officials at the Pentagon—the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense—have conceded that the current system is largely incapable of providing protection against major attacks, particularly those involving hypersonic and cruise missiles. The burgeoning military capabilities of China, Russia, and other nations have heightened America's security concerns. Consequently, plans are now being formulated for a new and costly "Golden Dome" defense system designed to safeguard the nation against future threats.

A war has been ongoing between Russia and Ukraine for four years... The United States, Israel, and Iran are also engaged in conflict... China constantly issues threats against Taiwan... And tension persists between India and Pakistan as well. Amidst the various ongoing wars and looming threats of conflict across the globe, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) has released a new report indicating that global military spending has increased by approximately 3 percent. Following Donald Trump's assumption of the presidency, the United States withdrew its support from Ukraine, thereby shifting a greater burden onto Europe. Consequently, Europe was compelled to spend an additional ₹9.25 trillion within a single year. Meanwhile, U.S. military expenditure declined.

The French Rafale and Swedish Gripen fighter jets have suffered a major setback. The Latin American nation of Peru has opted for the American F-16 fighter jet. With this decision, a competition that had been ongoing since 2012 has finally come to an end. Peru has signed a deal with the United States for the acquisition of F-16 fighter jets. Meanwhile, Ukraine is currently preparing to purchase fighter jets on a large scale; this development could serve as a significant lesson for the country. Peru has announced that it has finalized a deal with the U.S. for 12 new F-16 Block 70 fighter jets. The Peruvian government has also already made a payment of $462 million. Prior to this, the United States had issued a threat regarding the deal, a situation that subsequently led to the resignation of two government ministers. In Peru—a nation rich in copper reserves—China has rapidly consolidated its influence. It was for this very reason that the United States exerted its full diplomatic pressure to ensure that Peru would purchase the F-16 fighter jets. Following this threat, Peru's Minister of Defense and Minister of Foreign Affairs tendered their resignations; they were protesting the manner in which the President had handled the entire deal. This incident could now potentially have repercussions on Ukraine's own fighter jet acquisition plans. Ukraine is currently working on a plan to purchase 100 Rafale and 150 Gripen fighter jets. This entire deal, comprising a total of 250 aircraft, could be valued at 50 billion euros.

Donald Trump is displeased with Britain for failing to cooperate in a potential conflict against Iran. In response, the Trump administration may lend its support to Argentina's claim over the British-held Falkland Islands. This move could trigger a review of U.S. policy regarding the Falklands and escalate tensions with Britain.
Key Points:
Trump's Resentment: Britain refused to grant the U.S. access to its airbases, a decision that has angered Trump regarding the Iran issue.
The Falklands Issue: Argentina has long asserted a claim over the Falkland Islands (which it refers to as the Malvinas).
U.S. Role: Historically, the U.S. sided with Britain during the 1982 war; however, it may now be poised to alter its policy.
Diplomatic Strain: Should the U.S. choose to back Argentina, Britain could face diplomatic isolation on the international stage.

Amidst tensions with the United States, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi arrived in Russia on Monday. He is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. His visit comes at a time when there are apprehensions that the ceasefire with the U.S. could collapse. Iran had previously declined to meet with U.S. officials in Pakistan. The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated on Telegram that Abbas Araqchi has arrived in St. Petersburg, where he is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This development unfolded as Araqchi also visited Oman in the midst of his travels to Islamabad. Mediators are currently engaged in efforts to keep peace talks between Tehran and Washington alive. On Saturday, following Iran's refusal to engage in direct talks, U.S. President Donald Trump cancelled the proposed visit of his envoys—Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner—to Islamabad. Iran's state-run Fars News Agency has reported that Iran has conveyed "written messages" to the Americans through the mediator, Pakistan. In these messages, Iran has clearly outlined its "red lines," which encompass nuclear issues and the Strait of Hormuz.

India is adopting a strategy of "balance" in its trade with China, rather than pursuing a complete disengagement. Its objective is to gradually reduce dependence on Chinese inputs by strengthening domestic manufacturing (through the PLI scheme), while simultaneously managing the trade deficit by boosting exports. Although China emerged as India's largest trading partner in 2025-26, India is actively diversifying its supplier base.

Amidst escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, for the first time in history, more than 60 large crude oil tankers are heading toward the U.S. This record volume of oil shipments reflects an energy crisis and shifts in the global supply chain, driven by the war-like situation in the Middle East. U.S. oil exports have reached a record level of 8.1 million barrels per day.

The manner in which Pakistan is attempting to broker peace talks with Iran—while openly siding with the United States—could prove costly for the country. Last week, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, refused to meet with two of Donald Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, despite Asim Munir having made repeated requests to the Iranian minister to hold such a meeting. Following this refusal, Araqchi departed from Islamabad. Consequently, the planned visit of the U.S. envoys to Islamabad had to be cancelled. Although Araqchi returned to Islamabad a day later, his sole purpose was to formally present Iran's demands to Pakistan. Amidst these developments, Pakistan appears to be playing a double game—a situation that ultimately compelled U.S. President Donald Trump to cancel the American delegation's visit to Islamabad. This sequence of events made it abundantly clear that Araqchi had no intention whatsoever of meeting with the Americans while in Islamabad. This raises the pertinent question: Who had assured President Trump that a meeting between U.S. officials and Araqchi in Islamabad was feasible, given that the Iranians had already explicitly stated that they were no longer interested in engaging in another round of talks?

On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump described the assailant who opened fire at his dinner party as a radical and an anti-Christian. The shooting occurred on Saturday evening while Trump was attending the White House Correspondents' Dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel. Secret Service agents apprehended the individual before he could enter the hall and identified him as Cole Thomas Allen from California. During the subsequent investigation, officials discovered a manifesto belonging to the man, in which he outlined the motives behind his actions. He had leveled several serious criminal allegations against officials within the Trump administration. Trump became visibly irked when questioned about the allegations contained in this manifesto during an appearance on the CBS News program *60 Minutes*. Trump characterized the alleged attacker as a "sick man" and criticized the interviewer, journalist Norah O'Donnell, for reading the allegations aloud. "You should be ashamed of yourself for reading that out," Trump stated, "because I am none of those things."
