The NSS PG Departments Units I, II, and III of Berhampur University organised an anti-drug awareness programme, "GenZ Against Drug Addiction," on 2 August 2026 under the national campaign "Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat."

The programme featured the live address of the Hon'ble Prime Minister and an interactive session with youth and NSS volunteers from across the country. Over 300 volunteers from various colleges and universities participated.

The event was graced by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Asima Sahu, Chairman Prof. Sukant Kumar Tripathy, Director of Students' Welfare Prof. Ganesh Sethi, Rajyogini Sanghmitra Behn, and former NSS DPO Prof. Satish K. Nayak. The programme concluded with a pledge to promote a drug-free society.

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, BU, organized a workshop on "Drone Journalism and Aerial Storytelling" on 24th July 2026 at 11:00 AM. Mr. Rashmi Ranjan Padhy was the resource person for the session. He spoke about the use of drones in news gathering, aerial cinematography, and the legal and ethical guidelines for drone journalism. The workshop included practical field demonstrations with students. The session highlighted how aerial storytelling is shaping the future of journalism.

As part of the observance of Van Mahotsav 2026, the NSS PG Units of Berhampur University organized a plantation drive at the Bhanja Bihar Campus on 4 July 2026.

Registrar Smt. Chinmayee Kanhar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the programme by planting a sapling. Prof. Sukant Kumar Tripathy, Chairman, P.G. Council, attended as the Guest of Honour and also planted a sapling.

Among the distinguished participants were Shri Ashok Kumar Dhangadamajhi (COF) and Shri Ganeswar Majhi (CE), who joined the plantation drive at the Examination Building Garden. Dr Jayanta Kumar Panda (Head, Department of Journalism & Mass Communication), Shri Ganesh Sahu (DPO, NSS, Ganjam), Dr Kusha Nayak (Assistant Professor, Department of Physics), along with faculty members, non-teaching staff, and NSS volunteers, actively participated in the programme.
The plantation drive was coordinated by Dr Kabita Baral, Dr Sankarsan Malik, and Dr Chandrika P. Das, reaffirming the University's commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development through the celebration of Van Mahotsav 2026.
