Heavy rain caused a complete power outage in a village, leaving people with de@d phones and no way to stay connected. 🌧️🔌

That’s when two young men came up with a simple idea. They brought a generator to the village square, connected multiple extension boards and chargers, and began charging phones for just ₹30 per hour.

Soon, people from across the village started lining up. Some needed to contact their families, while others depended on their phones for work and communication. 📲

With dozens of phones being charged at once, the small setup reportedly turned into a busy local service. According to the story, the two eventually made around ₹1.6 lakh from the idea. 💰

Indian Oil plans to roll out its own packaged drinking water across 43,603 fuel outlets, with 21,435 highway outlets expected to lead the rollout.

The first phase will include 250 ml, 500 ml and 1-litre PET bottles, with the 1-litre pack positioned as the main product. The company may later expand into premium, mineral, alkaline and functional hydration products.

If you use the WhatsApp Business platform for business, a major change is coming on October 1st of next month. Starting October 1st, 2026, the company is implementing a significant change in messaging pricing for the WhatsApp Business platform in India. Businesses will now be required to pay for certain messages that were previously free. Importantly, this will not affect regular WhatsApp users. This change will only apply to business users using the WhatsApp Business platform. WhatsApp Business app and regular WhatsApp users will not be affected.

The Supreme Court has suggested a new mechanism to improve the recovery of unpaid traffic challans. During a hearing, a bench of Justices J.B. Pardiwala and K.V. Viswanathan discussed the possibility of linking unpaid traffic fines with electricity dues.

The suggestion came after the Court was informed that around ₹45,000 crore in e-challan fines were pending across States and Union Territories, with about ₹25,000 crore reportedly recovered so far. The Court emphasised that simply issuing thousands of challans is not enough, the authorities also need effective mechanisms to recover the fines.

Delhi has tightened rules for Ganpati Visarjan this year, restricting idol immersion in the Yamuna and other natural water bodies as authorities push for more environmentally sustainable festival practices.

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has prohibited idol immersion in the Yamuna and other water bodies except at designated sites identified by local civic authorities. Anyone violating the directions can be asked to pay ₹50,000 as environmental compensation.

To provide devotees with alternatives, authorities are preparing artificial immersion ponds across the city. Reports initially said around 90 such ponds were being arranged across Delhi, including facilities in West, East, North-West, South-East and South-West Delhi. More recent reports put the number already prepared at 78 under directions from Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

The rules also prohibit Plaster of Paris idols from being immersed in water bodies. Idol makers and sellers have been asked to use natural clay, biodegradable materials and natural colours instead. Before immersion, flowers and decorative material are also supposed to be removed from idols, with biodegradable waste separated for composting and other material sent for appropriate disposal.

The government has separately been working on designated collection facilities for damaged or “khandit” idols, aimed at discouraging the practice of leaving them under trees, along roads, near rivers or at other public places. Similar collection systems are also intended to give residents a place to deposit puja material for segregation and processing instead of dumping it into water bodies.

DPCC has also asked agencies to enforce existing National Green Tribunal directions against dumping flowers, food, oil and other religious offerings into the Yamuna. Water quality in the river is set to be monitored before, during and after the immersion period to assess the impact of festival activities.
