Announcement of new B.Tech Programme in Electronics

The programme is designed to create innovators and researchers capable of addressing the rapidly growing demand for artificial intelligence-driven technologies in modern electronics and communication systems. With the recent boom of AI across industries, the B.Tech programme in Electronics Communication and Artificial Intelligence at IIIT-Guwahati aims to develop strong interdisciplinary expertise by combining the foundations of electronics and communication engineering with advanced AI and intelligent computing techniques. Students are introduced to core areas such as electronics, signals & systems, communication engineering, embedded systems, VLSI, and intelligent hardware systems in the early semesters. The curriculum further integrates emerging subjects, including machine learning, deep learning, data analytics, computer vision, intelligent wireless networks, and AI-enabled automation. The programme prepares students to contribute towards next-generation smart systems, autonomous technologies, semiconductor industries, IoT applications, and intelligent communication networks. In addition, the students are also well prepared to pursue higher studies, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in rapidly evolving domains related to Electronics and Artificial Intelligence.

In the QS World University Rankings 2027, IIT Delhi has emerged as India's highest-ranked institution for the second consecutive year, improving its position from 123rd in 2026 to 118th in 2027.

The achievement reflects the growing global recognition of Indian institutions for excellence in teaching, research and innovation.

52 Indian institutions have featured in the QS World University Rankings 2027. IIT Delhi remains India's highest-ranked institution at 118th globally, while IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay and IIT Madras are among the world's Top 200 universities.

The Eighth Convocation of Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati will be held on July 4, 2026, from 11 am onwards. The venue is Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Auditorium, IIT Guwahati. Degrees will be conferred to the students who graduated and postgraduated in 2026. Professor Bharat Bhasker, Hon'ble Director, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad has graciously accepted the invitation to be the Chief Guest for this year's convocation.
