The ICFAI University, Sikkim, in association with MindLyftAI, is pleased to host an Exclusive Knowledge Session for the Indian Army on “Income Tax Filing and AI” on 12 August 2026 at Gangtok.

The session is designed to bring together practical knowledge of income tax filing and the emerging applications of Artificial Intelligence in financial and tax-related processes. It will focus on simplifying tax compliance, understanding AI-powered tax intelligence, and enabling smarter and more informed financial decisions.

The session will be facilitated by CA Aanchal Agawane, Director, MindLyft AI, and Mr. Dinesh Dhungel, Inquisitive Mindspace Private Limited. The programme will provide an opportunity for members of the Indian Army to gain valuable insights into contemporary tax practices and the growing role of AI in improving efficiency and decision-making.

Through such knowledge-sharing initiatives, The ICFAI University, Sikkim continues to strengthen its engagement with the Indian Armed Forces and contribute towards professional development, capacity building, and meaningful knowledge exchange.

Legal Awareness Session on POCSO Act & Cyber Crime

As part of the NCC Annual Training Camp 2026, a lecture session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO Act) and Cyber Crime was conducted by Dr. Rinchen Tamang on 10 August 2026 at Kamrang, Namchi, Sikkim.

The session was attended by around 200 NCC cadets participating in the Annual Training Camp being held from 5–14 August 2026.

Dr. Tamang sensitised the cadets on key provisions of the POCSO Act, child protection, child-friendly legal procedures, reporting mechanisms, and the importance of safeguarding the rights and dignity of children.

The session also focused on cyber safety and responsible digital behaviour, covering issues such as cyber bullying, online harassment, phishing, identity theft, financial fraud, and the responsible use of social media. The relevant legal framework, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, was also discussed.

The interactive session enhanced the cadets’ legal awareness, digital safety consciousness, and sense of responsible citizenship, contributing meaningfully to the objectives of the NCC Annual Training Camp.

Dr. Jagannath Patnaik�Vice Chancellor, The ICFAI University, Sikkim had the privilege of a meaningful meeting with Shri Rajnath Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Defence, and Chief of Defence Staff General N. S. Raja Subramani, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM.

During the interaction, we held constructive discussions on education and professional development opportunities for Army officers, as well as structured academic engagement and skill-enhancement pathways linked to the Agniveer scheme.
The deliberations focused on strengthening future-ready education, leadership capacity, and meaningful transition support for serving personnel and Agniveers in alignment with national priorities.
It was an honour to contribute perspectives from the higher education sector towards these important initiatives.

A New Milestone in Innovation at The ICFAI University, Sikkim!

The SPIN Lab marks a significant step towards advancing Geospatial Technologies, Remote Sensing, GIS, Artificial Intelligence, Spatial Analytics, and Satellite Data Applications. The laboratory will serve as a hub for cutting-edge research, innovation, skill development, and industry-academia collaboration, empowering students and researchers to address real-world challenges through spatial intelligence.

This collaboration with IIT Tirupati Navavishkar I-Hub Foundation reinforces our commitment to fostering a culture of innovation, interdisciplinary research, and technology-driven education in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

🌿 Youth United for a Drug-Free India! 🇮🇳

The ICFAI University Sikkim, in collaboration with My Bharat Sikkim under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, successfully organised the "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Competitions 2026" on 3rd August 2026 at the University campus.

Students from schools and colleges across Gangtok District enthusiastically participated in speech, singing, dance, painting, poetry, and other competitions, creatively spreading the message of a drug-free and developed India.

The programme was graced by Mr. Shekhar Sewa, Chairperson, Sikkim Scheduled Caste Welfare Board, and Colonel Ajay Ramakrishnan, Sena Medal (Gallantry) as the Special Guests, whose inspiring addresses encouraged the youth to embrace discipline, integrity, and responsible citizenship. The event was also attended by Dr. Rohit Rathi, Registrar, Mrs. Sandhya R. Pant, Joint Registrar, along with faculty members, staff, and students.
