Felt really blessed to encounter this beautiful Yellow Swallowtail In Sikkim for the first time after all these years. Not that it is rare, but only I was not at right place at the right time.
This old world butterfly originally represents Palearctic faunal component and gives us a hint that the species was stuck with many others in the region when the Indian Plate collided with the Eurasian plate and the Himalayas was formed.
