National Anti-Ragging Week 2026 – Day 1

The observance of National Anti-Ragging Week 2026 (12th–18th August 2026) commenced at the Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) with a meaningful awareness programme aimed at promoting a safe, inclusive, and respectful campus environment.

The first day of the event was organized by the Student Council, SMIT, in association with Cinemates. The programme began with an address by the Director, SMIT, Prof. (Dr.) Savitha G. Kini, who emphasized the importance of maintaining a ragging-free campus and encouraged students to uphold the values of mutual respect, empathy, and responsible conduct.

Following the inaugural address, Cinemates presented a powerful Nukkad Natak (street play) highlighting the negative impact of ragging on students and the campus community. Through an engaging and thought-provoking performance, the play conveyed the importance of standing against all forms of harassment and fostering an atmosphere of friendship, dignity, and support.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, reinforcing SMIT's commitment to creating a welcoming environment for every student.

SMIT will continue to observe National Anti-Ragging Week from 12th to 18th August 2026 through a series of awareness activities and programmes designed to educate students about the consequences of ragging and the importance of maintaining a culture of respect and inclusivity.

Through these initiatives, SMIT reaffirms its dedication to promoting a campus built on equality, compassion, and unity while ensuring that every student enjoys a safe and enriching academic journey.
