On the auspicious occasion of the 80th Independence Day, we had the privilege of coming together for a heartfelt felicitation programme in honour of Smt. Gaden Bhutia madam, whose life has been devoted to education, children and selfless service.
Beginning her teaching journey on 14 June 1989 in North Sikkim and joining Government Primary School, Patuk Kokaley, on 19 June 1990, she has dedicated decades of her life to nurturing, guiding and inspiring generations of children.
Her contribution has always extended far beyond the classroom. She has been a constant source of support for children, helping them with their education, guiding them with care, and even welcoming children into her own home whenever they needed additional support. Her kindness and genuine concern have touched many young lives.
Her service has also made a meaningful impact on the village and wider community. Whenever support was needed, she has always been ready to extend a helping hand. Her generosity, compassion and selfless nature have made her a respected and cherished presence in the community.
Her love for children and education is reflected in the many ways she has supported their learning and development. From providing school uniforms, notebooks and educational materials to creating useful and beautiful items from waste materials, she has encouraged children to learn through creativity, imagination and practical experience.
For many of us, the lessons she gave were not limited to textbooks. We learned from her kindness, discipline, simplicity, patience, generosity and dedication values that remain with us long after our school days have passed.
This felicitation therefore carries a meaning far beyond a ceremony. It is a humble expression of the gratitude, respect and affection that generations of students hold for a teacher who has dedicated so much of her life to others.
