As part of the Independence Day celebrations, Martam Yangthang JHS conducted a Plastic Freedom Challenge on 11 August 2026 to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of plastic pollution and the importance of reducing the use of single-use plastics.

Students actively participated in the activity and were encouraged to avoid unnecessary plastic items and adopt eco-friendly alternatives.

They collected plastic waste from the school surroundings and learned about proper waste segregation and disposal.

An awareness session was also conducted to highlight the harmful effects of plastic on the environment, animals, soil, and water bodies. Students took a pledge to reduce plastic use and contribute towards keeping their surroundings clean and green.

The activity was successfully conducted with active participation from students and teachers. It helped develop environmental awareness and encouraged students to adopt responsible and eco-friendly habits.

Global Tiger Day was observed at Martam Yangthang JHS on 29th July 2026 to raise awareness among students about the importance of tiger conservation and the protection of wildlife.

The programme highlighted the declining tiger population and the threats faced by tigers due to habitat loss, poaching, and other human activities.

Students actively participated in awareness activities and learned about the role of tigers in maintaining ecological balance.
