Pabyuik Senior Secondary School celebrated the Pre-Tendong Lho Rum Faat Festival with great enthusiasm and cultural pride in the gracious presence of Hon'ble Area MLA Shri. Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, along with Panchayat Members of Bhusukโ€“Naitam GPU, local dignitaries, stakeholders, parents and members of the community.
Their esteemed presence added grandeur and significance to the celebration.

The distinguished guests were warmly welcomed by the Vice-Principal, staff members and students with traditional hospitality.

The programme commenced with religious offerings and prayers, invoking blessings for peace, prosperity and harmony. The celebration formally began with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Kritika Thapa, who greeted the dignitaries, guests, staff, students and parents. In her address, she highlighted the importance of Tendong Lho Rum Faat as a festival that reflects the rich cultural heritage and spiritual beliefs of the Lepcha community. She encouraged everyone to cherish and preserve the unique traditions that strengthen communal harmony and cultural identity.

This was followed by the address of the Vice-Principal, who welcomed the gathering and emphasized the importance of celebrating indigenous festivals in educational institutions to promote cultural awareness, unity and respect for diversity among students.

A special highlight of the programme was the narration of the Tendong Story in the Lepcha language by student Tashi Doma Leocha, beautifully explaining the legendary significance of Mount Tendong and its sacred place in Lepcha history and tradition.

The audience was further captivated by a graceful Lepcha Cultural Dance performed by the primary students, showcasing the beauty and elegance of Lepcha culture.
The school felicitated the Chief Guest, Hon'ble Area MLA, as a mark of respect and gratitude for his presence and continued support towards education and cultural preservation.

Addressing the gathering, the Hon'ble MLA emphasized the importance of preserving the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Lepcha community. He encouraged students to take pride in their roots, respect all cultures and become ambassadors of Sikkim's unique heritage. He also spoke about the significance of unity in diversity, the role of education in building responsible citizens, and the collective responsibility of the younger generation to safeguard the customs, languages and traditions passed down by their ancestors.

The programme also featured a Poetry Recitation by student Parimith Lepcha, followed by an informative presentation on the significance of Tendong Lho Rum Faat by Ms. Sonam Lhmau Lepcha (GT) in the Lepcha language. The same was translated into English by Mrs. Chumbi Lepcha (PGT) and into Nepali by Mrs. Usha Sharma (PGT Nepali), enabling everyone present to understand the historical and cultural importance of the festival.

artistic expressions on the theme of Tendong Lho Rum Faat, along with an exhibition of the traditional Lepcha cuisine Khuri, attracted great appreciation from the guests and visitors.

The cultural segment continued with melodious solo performances by students Parimith and Samriddhi, followed by vibrant cultural dances representing the diverse communities of Sikkim. Students performed Rai Cultural Dance, Bhutia Cultural Dance and Nepali Cultural Dance, beautifully reflecting the spirit of unity in diversity and the multicultural identity of the state.

The celebration also included the Prize Distribution Ceremony, where students were honoured for their achievements and active participation in various activities.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Mrs. Sangeeta Adhikari (GT), who expressed sincere gratitude to the Hon'ble Chief Guest, Panchayat members, dignitaries, parents, staff, students and everyone who contributed to making the celebration a grand success.

The Pre-Tendong Lho Rum Faat celebration at Pabyuik Senior Secondary School was a memorable occasion that not only celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Lepcha community but also inspired students to value, preserve and promote the diverse traditions that make Sikkim unique.

Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp 2026

Date: Day 7 (Closing Ceremony)

The seventh and final day of the Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp 2026 marked the successful conclusion of a week-long journey of learning and cultural enrichment. The programme began with traditional assessment speeches, during which students confidently presented what they had learned throughout the camp. They shared their experiences of learning their state languages, including new vocabulary, common phrases, pronunciation, folk traditions, songs, stories and the cultural significance of their regional languages. Their presentations reflected the knowledge and confidence they had gained during the camp.

The closing ceremony was conducted in the presence of the respected Principal Sir, teachers and students. Addressing the gathering, the Principal appreciated the sincere efforts of the teachers in successfully organizing the camp and congratulated the students for their enthusiastic participation. He encouraged everyone to continue learning, speaking and preserving their our languages as an important part of India's rich linguistic and cultural heritage.

As a token of appreciation, certificates of completion were presented to both the teachers and the participating students by the Principal Sir. The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressions of gratitude and group photographs, bringing the Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp 2026 to a memorable and inspiring close.

SECOND DAY OF SPORTS ACTIVITIES

The second day of sports activities was conducted successfully under the supervision of PET Mr. Adarsh Sir and Mr. Nedup Bhutia Sir.

An Inter-House Girls Football Match was organized with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

For the primary students, Balloon Bursting and Marble Balancing in Spoon competitions were held.

All the students participated actively and enjoyed the activities with excitement and joy.

Theme: Culture Appreciation and Listening Skills (Social Film in the Concerned Language with Showing Placards)

The fifth day of Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp 2026 was conducted with the objective of developing cultural appreciation and enhancing listening skills among the students. The activities of the day were centered around screening a social film in the concerned language and displaying placards highlighting important messages and cultural values.

The day concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from all students. The activities not only enhanced their listening skills but also fostered a deeper understanding and appreciation of the State language, its culture, traditions and social values. Through the social film and meaningful placards, students developed greater respect for linguistic diversity and cultural heritage, making the learning experience both enjoyable and enriching.
