In recognition of invaluable contribution of Hon'ble V.C., Dr. J.M. Vyas, International Association of Forensic Sciences invited him to its 24th Triennial Meeting, IAFS 2026, at Sofia, Bulgaria. In response, a 7-member NFSU delegation attended IAFS 2026 from 25 to 30 May 2026.

National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, celebrated the World Environment Day on 5th June 2026 with a Mass Tree Plantation Drive. On this occasion, Prof. (Dr.) S. O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU-Gandhinagar; Shri C. D. Jadeja, Executive Registrar; Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Kumar Chaudhary, Campus Director, NFSU-Goa, along with Deans, University officials, and faculty members actively participated in the initiative.

The drive embodied the spirit of the nationwide campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, symbolising courage, collective responsibility, and visionary leadership aligned with the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s dedication to sustainable progress.

This initiative reflects NFSU’s vision of fostering sustainable development and its mission of nurturing socially responsible citizens. By integrating environmental stewardship with academic excellence, the university continues to inspire collective action for a greener, resilient future.

As part of the study-cum cultural tour, 13 Trainee IPS officers led by Dr. Sandeep Kumar, IPS, visited NFSU on May 15. The visit mainly focused on the growing integration of forensic science, cyber security, and advanced research in modern criminal investigation and national security mechanisms.

On behalf of Prof. S. O. Junare, Campus Director, a presentation was made by Prof. Akshat Mehta, Dean, School of Police Science and Security Studies (SPSSS) on University’s recent & major Milestones highlighting the institution’s state-of-the-art facilities, multidisciplinary research ecosystem, and operational contributions in the field of forensic investigation. The NFSU team showcased the institution’s commitment towards scientific innovation, capacity building, and technology-enabled policing practices. The delegation visited Centres of Excellence in Investigative & Forensic Psychology; Cyber Security; NDPS; Ballistics; and Digital Forensics.

The trainee officers lauded the synergy between Law Enforcement and NFSU under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. J. M. Vyas. The visiting Officers were impressed with the University’s facilities and its contribution to achieve robust security and justice delivery for the Nation.

Union Home Secretary, Shri Govind Mohan inaugurated a one-day All India Conference on Forensic Science and Prosecution as the Chief Guest, at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on 15th May, 2026. Shri Alok Ranjan, IPS, Director General, BPR&D; Shri Prashant Lokhande, IAS, Additional Secretary(WS), MHA; Shri Satpal Chauhan, IES, D.G. Awards, MHA; Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, In-charge Vice Chancellor of NFSU; Dr. S.K. Jain, Director-cum-Chief Forensic Scientist, DFSS and Shri C.D. Jadeja, Executive Registrar-NFSU, were present on the dais.

Union Home Secretary, Shri Govind Mohan, addressed the gathering and highlighted that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and constant guidance of Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, the Government of India has outlined a clear roadmap to build one of the most advanced and scientifically robust criminal justice systems in the world. India’s criminal justice system rests on five pillars: Police, Forensics, Prosecution, Prisons, and Courts. For decades, these pillars have functioned in silos, limiting efficiency and coordination. The Ministry of Home affairs has convened a landmark conference to break these silos. Special focus is on integrating the prosecution and forensic pillars with the other three to build a seamless, modern justice system.

Shri Prashant Lokhande, IAS, Additional Secretary (WS), Ministry of Home Affairs, delivered an address on “Strengthening Scientific Justice under the Nyaya Sanhitas,” highlighting the government’s commitment to building a modern, evidence‑driven criminal justice framework. Shri Alok Ranjan, IPS, Director General, Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D), emphasized in his speech the need for stronger coordination, capacity building, and efficiency in the prosecution system to meet the evolving demands of justice delivery.

Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, In-charge Vice Chancellor of NFSU mentioned that following the AI 171 crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025, the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) set a record-breaking pace for DNA profiling to identify victims. NFSU has developed more than 20 Make-in-India products for forensic investigation through cutting edge research and innovation, to fulfill Vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Kumar Chaudhary, Director-Training; Prof. (Dr.) Satish Kumar, Campus Director, NFSU-Bhopal; Dr. Surbhi Mathur, Associate Professor, SFS and Dr. Nilay Mistry, Associate Professor actively participated in the conference, representing NFSU with excellence.

At the Valedictory Ceremony, Shri Mayank Mishra, Director (WS), Ministry of Home Affairs, delivered the vote of thanks.

The conference was attended by senior officials, including the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Directors General of Police, Law Secretaries, and Directors of Forensic Science Laboratories from various states across India.

A special training programme on Digital Forensics and Incident Response for 23 ISRO Scientists commenced at NFSU Gandhinagar. Sh. Somya S. Sarkar, Director, SAC, Sh. Rajiv R Chetwani, CISO, ISRO & Prof. (Dr.) S.O. Junare, C.D. Gandhinagar inaugurated the training programme.

A panel discussion for ISRO scientists was also held. This initiative marks another significant step towards strengthening collaboration between NFSU and ISRO in advancing cyber resilience and technological excellence.

Students of M.Sc. Cyber Security, School of Cyber Security & Digital Forensics, National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar, Tejas Navnath Mane (Team Lead, Semester-4) and Jiya Manishkumar Joshi (Semester-2), representing Team Cryptara, secured the 2nd Runner-Up position at the Cyber Security Innovation Challenge (CSIC) 1.0 organized under the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, in association with Data Security Council of India (DSCI) and C-DAC Hyderabad. The team was awarded a cash prize of ₹5,00,000 for their innovative cybersecurity solution.

Their project, “Lightweight Post-Quantum Messaging,” focused on developing a lightweight Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) secure communication solution for mobile and IoT environments. The system integrates PQC-based encryption with a zero-knowledge relay architecture to ensure privacy-preserving and quantum-resilient communication optimized for constrained devices, addressing emerging cybersecurity challenges in the quantum era.

The team was recognized among the top cybersecurity innovation teams nationally under CSIC 1.0 for developing indigenous future-ready cybersecurity solutions aligned with quantum-safe communication requirements.

Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU). The MoU was signed by Shri Vivek Chandra Verma, CEO, UIDAI, and Prof. (Dr.) S. O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU Gandhinagar Campus.

Under this MoU, NFSU will provide cybersecurity and digital forensics services to UIDAI. The signing ceremony was attended by Shri Abhishek Kumar Singh, DDG TMD; Col. Pravin Chandra Joshi, Director MDC; Shri Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Director, UIDAI State Office, Gujarat; Shri Ranjan Kumar, DD MDC; Smt. Navroj Kaur, DD Enforcement; Shri Biju, FMS Lead, Enforcement, UIDAI; along with the Dean, Associate Dean, and Head of the Center from NFSU.

NFSU (I) Uganda Campus celebrated Foundation Day on 13 Apr 26. After lighting of lamp, Campus Director briefed about NFSU, Hon'ble V.C., Dr. J.M. Vyas blessed with a video message, and Chief Guest, High Commissioner of India, H.E. Mr. Upender Singh Rawat delivered an expert talk.

On NFSU Uganda Campus Day, Guest of Honour, Jinja Cantt Cdr, Brig Gen Immanuel Kanyesigye, and on behalf of Chief of Joint Staff, JS FESC, Brig Gen Richard Karemire, delivered messages. Later Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Mrs. Dyuti Rawat were honoured with stole.

NFSU Campus Foundation Day, was attended by UPDF Generals, Ugandan dignitaries and Indian guests. They were happy to watch students & staff performing dances of Ugandan tribes and Indian nationalist songs. This followed presentation of gifts, cake cutting and dinner.
