Learning Skills That Can Save Lives !

The Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar (IIPHG), in collaboration with the Indian Air Force (IAF), organised a hands-on CPR & Basic Life Saving Techniques Workshop at the IIPHG campus.

The training was conducted by a team from the Indian Air Force, providing participants with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in CPR, basic life support and emergency response techniques.

An insightful and valuable session that equipped our participants with essential skills to respond effectively during emergencies.

On 21 September 2026, we successfully conducted a Phase 2 Peer Training under the India One Health School Program (IOHSP) 2026 at Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. One Health School Program (IOHSP) 2026 organized by the One Health Network of India (OHNI) & COHERD at the Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar IIPHG, with support from Chevron and SEAOHUN.

The day brought together students and experts for an engaging learning experience focused on understanding and applying the One Health approach. The programme included an introduction to One Health led by our One Health Ambassadors - Anushka Ghosh, Suprotim Dey and SUBHASISH KARMAKAR, expert session, an interactive role play, creative learning through an Open Canvas, and a post-training assessment.

Expert sessions were led by Harish Tiwari, IIT Guwahati, and Dr. Shailee Patil, COHERD-IIPHG adding valuable perspectives to the participantsโ€™ learning journey.

The highlight of the afternoon was the Ideathon, where participants had the opportunity to pitch their own One Health ideas, proposals, prototypes, or surveillance concepts before a judging panelโ€”encouraging them to move from learning to action.

A heartfelt appreciation to our One Health Ambassadors for leading this peer-learning initiative and to all the participants for their enthusiasm, ideas, and commitment to becoming One Health Changemakers.

Sensitization workshop: Value Chain Analysis for foodborne zoonoses in Kochi, Kerala!
Under the technical Guidance of Centre for One Health, NCDC,GoI; COHERD-IIPHG, in collaboration with Kochi Municipal Corporation, and District Health Services team Ernakulam, with support from JSI, organized a sensitization workshop on September 22, 2026 in Kochi, Kerala.
The session focused on implementing the Value Chain Analysis for Foodborne Zoonoses project across Kochiโ€™s wet markets and documenting the risk from One Health principles.
๐Ÿค A United 'One Health' Approach was followed
Key stakeholders from fisheries, labour, agriculture, health and animal husbandry sectors united to discuss food safety and committed for this public health initiative.
The event was graced by: Adv. Minimol V. K. (Mayor, Kochi Municipal Corporation) And Ms. Seena Gokulan (Chairperson, Health Standing Committee).
Both leaders highlighted the urgent need to prioritize food safety to protect our community's health. They mentioned the need for this kind of initiative and extended support for implementing this unique initiative and making a healthier Kochi.

From One Health Ambassadors to One Health Changemakers!

On 21 September 2026, JSS Medical College, Mysore, hosted the India One Health School Program. 2026 Phase 2 Peer Training, where our One Health Ambassadors took the lead in engaging their peers through interactive activities, games, and discussions.

A key highlight was the panel discussion, โ€œBeyond Boundaries: Human, Animal, and Environmental Health in Action,โ€ featuring Dr. Tongkorn Meeyam, Executive Director, SEAOHUN, and Dr. Sandul Yasobant, Faculty, IIPHG & Leads One Health Network of India (OHNI), who highlighted the importance of collaboration across human, animal, and environmental health.

โœจ The real impact came as participating peers embraced the One Health mindset and emerged as One Health Changemakersโ€”ready to carry the knowledge into their institutions and communities.

This journey is being led by the One Health Network of India (OHNI) through the Centre for One Health Education, Research and Development (COHERD), Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar IIPHG , with support from Chevron and the Southeast Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN).

Strengthening School Nutrition through Knowledge, Training & Community Action

CoEN PMU, PM POSHAN, with the support of Astral Foundation, in collaboration with the Department of Education, Government of Gujarat, conducted an online training programme for Organizers, Cook-cum-Helpers and Helpers on 10 September 2026 through BISAG โ€“ Vande Gujarat Channel No. 1 and Vidya Samiksha Kendra's YouTube Live platform.

The training focused on PM POSHAN, Mukhyamantri Paushtik Alpahar Yojana, Dudh Sanjeevani Yojana, food fortification, nutrition, hygiene, food safety, cleanliness and School Nutrition Gardens.

With approximately 58,000 views, the session has helped extend important messages on nutrition and safe food practices to stakeholders across Gujarat.

We are pleased to share a special message of appreciation from Mrs. Neha Gupta ma'am, Joint Commissioner, PM POSHAN, Government of Gujarat, recognizing the contribution of IIPHG towards strengthening school nutrition initiatives.
