As the 15th Convocation of IIT Gandhinagar approaches, we’re taking a nostalgic look back at the 14th Convocation - a day filled with pride, gratitude, and new beginnings. 🌟

“I just graduated, I finished my convocation, and I did my B.Tech in Materials Engineering.

And it has been a wonderful four years, and I still can’t believe that it is over and this officially marks the end of my B.Tech.

So for all the batches that are going to come to IIT Gandhinagar, all the best, live your life, enjoy, and for the further convocations, have fun. Thank you.” - Adit Rambhia (BTech/MSE/2025)

The convocation stage, the proud walks and smiles - it’s almost time to relive it all again. Here’s to the journeys ahead, and the memories that made us who we are.

— coming soon.

We are proud to share that Dr. Aditi Sethia MSc/MA/2019 & PhD/CSE/2025), an alumna of IIT Gandhinagar, has joined IIT Jodhpur as an Assistant Professor.

"My time at IIT Gandhinagar, first as an MSc Mathematics student (Class of 2019) and then as a PhD student in Computer Science (Class of 2025), has been incredibly special. Having spent close to seven years on the beautiful campus, the place is no less than a second home to me.
Under the unconventional leadership of the then director, Prof. Sudhir Jain, I have been a witness to the campus growth, with remarkable progress in academics, infrastructure, and the vibrancy of campus life and student experience. I am confident that the institute will continue to thrive under the current leadership of Prof. Rajat M***a.

I fondly remember my MSc days, shaped by the mentorship of exceptional faculty – extremely grateful to Prof. N. R. Ladhawala, Prof. Atul Dixit, Prof. Indranath Sen Gupta, Prof. Sanjay Amrutiya, Prof. Chetan Pahlajani, and Prof. Jagmohan Tyagi. Conversations with them—both inside and outside the classroom—played a big role in shaping my early academic direction and in making mathematics feel both exciting and accessible.

The credit for my fantastic PhD experience goes entirely to my advisor, Prof. Neeldhara Misra. She has a wonderful way of seamlessly bringing a sense of fun into the learning experience. I have thoroughly enjoyed her classes, as well as the many discussions we’ve had—both academics and beyond.

Special thanks to the entire Computer Science department – Prof. Anirban Dasgupta, Prof. Balagopal, Prof. Bireswar Das, Prof. Manoj Gupta, Prof. Nipun Batra, and Prof. Mayank Singh – for the courses and mentorship they offered during my PhD days.

I appreciate the institute’s support throughout, especially the financial support for global exposure, as well as the care extended during crucial times such as the pandemic. I have immensely benefited from the institute’s student-first policies, and I am confident that future students will continue to experience the same care and support.

To all my IITGN friends, I cannot thank you enough for the warmth, laughter, and countless memories you have added along the way—and continue to do so.

I am excited to contribute to IIT Jodhpur's growth and look forward to a continued association with the IIT Gandhinagar community in the years ahead"

After completing his MSc & Ph.D. from IIT Gandhinagar, Dr. Aditi Sethia pursued postdoctoral research at IISc.

Heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Aditi Sethia on this achievement! The IITGN community wishes him continued success and fulfillment in his academic journey.

We are proud to share that Dr. Mohit Ganeriwala (MTech/EE/2015 & PhD/EE/2020), an alumnus of IIT Gandhinagar, has joined IIT Kanpur as an Assistant Professor.

"My association with Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar began in 2013 when I joined the M.Tech. program in Electrical Engineering. I often describe the institute as a bold social experiment in education and, in hindsight, a remarkably successful one.

From the outset, the unconventional academic environment captured my attention. I had the privilege of joining during the temporary campus days at VGEC, a phase that fostered close interactions between newly joined faculty and students. This unique setting created an open, collaborative culture that encouraged dialogue, experimentation, and academic risk-taking.

I was fortunate to be associated with several courses and laboratory initiatives, where I witnessed and explored innovative approaches to research and teaching. The strong interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty ensured that we were never confined to narrow subject boundaries but instead developed a broader academic perspective.

I cannot overstate the role of my supervisor, Prof. Nihar Ranjan Mohapatra, in shaping my academic journey. He truly acted as a guide at every step in my journey. His mentorship, guidance, and trust were instrumental to my growth. I am equally grateful to Prof. Joycee Mekie, Prof. Arup Lal Chakraborty, Prof. Nithin George, Prof. Shanmuganathan Raman, and Prof. R. Sharan, along with many other faculty members I had the privilege of interacting with, for their constant guidance, whether during academic discussions in labs, at tea post, the old juice shop in VGEC or evening stroll across the campus. I also sincerely appreciate Prof. Sudhir Jain the then director of IIT Gandhinagar, for envisioning and nurturing an academic environment that, though unconventional at first, proved to be deeply enriching.

Among many initiatives I would like to specifically mention, the Graduate Teaching Fellowship program which played a pivotal role in helping me discover and refine my teaching abilities.

A special note of thanks to my colleagues on campus, my friends, Dr. . S. Kumbar for maintaining such an excellent library, the laboratory staff for their constant support, and the campus Gym.

I look forward to continuing my association with IIT Gandhinagar in whatever way I can and remain confident that the institute will continue to shape thoughtful academicians and industry leaders in the years ahead.

After completing his MTech & Ph.D. from IIT Gandhinagar, Dr. Mohit Ganeriwala pursued postdoctoral research at Universidad de Granada.

Heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Mohit Ganeriwala on this achievement! The IITGN community wishes him continued success and fulfillment in his academic journey.
