The distress of differently abled children, the day to day challenges faced by their families, the alienation from society due to lack of awareness make the lives of these special people more difficult than it should be in a progressive society. Saaransh Foundation connects to those agonies and the emotions attached to them. It summarizes the unspoken pain and suppressed feelings and through this school, it aims to bring about a lasting positive change in the lives of those special people. At Saaransh, we firmly believe that raising a differently abled child does not require a special family but every family that undertakes such a journey to bring up the child to be self-capable, becomes special in its own way. The main objective of the Foundation is to foster this special bonding between the child, parent and the society. By saying so Saaransh undertakes this challenge to nurture, protect and to teach the differently abled children under a single roof, so that they do not need to be taken to another place to provide co-scholastic environment. We offer the following facilities on our campus in order to foster various areas of intelligence of our special children:
•Education: All the children irrespective of their personal abilities and difficulties have the right to be educated. We believe that differently-abled children can create wonders if they get the proper opportunity and access to education.
•Therapy (Occupational, Physio, Speech and Language, Applied Behaviour):Occupational therapists as well as Speech,Language, Behavioural and also Physio therapists play a key role in the growth and development of the specially abled children. They help to promote skills for independent living in differently abled people.
•Counselling:Our school counsellors play a very important role in the development of children with special needs. As they work with students within the school, they also frequently work with their parents in order to help them with ideas of the children’s social and emotional development. They guided the parents with the tips to cope with different situations.
•Home management: We endeavour to inculcate the sense of self-sufficiency in differently abled children. We teach them “Home Economics” through a unique methodology.
•Resource Support: The medium of instruction and the medium of communication can also vary from a child to another as per the differences in their abilities. We help our children with those special resources and also provide the parents with resource-support in case they need them.
•Remediation: We have a pull-out programme for our mainstream school children. The children with particular areas of difficulties are pulled out of their mainstream classrooms in specific periods and given remedial tutorials.
•Recreational activities: We conduct frequent fun activities for our specially abled children so that they find their time in school interesting. We believe that this enjoyment helps them to learn better.
•Co-scholastic activities: We offer a number of co-scholastic activities as per the child’s area of interest and intelligence. We are already affiliated to organizations in India and abroad that cater to children gifted with Autism and Dyslexia. Workshops for parents and awareness programmes for the general public will be conducted on regular intervals by experts of the field.
