Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (also known as IITGN), located in Palaj, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, is a public institute of higher education. It is one of the eight Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act. IITGN comes under the brand-cluster of Indian Institutes of Technology classified by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The institute has a distinguished array of faculty members in engineering, sciences, and humanities and social sciences. In addition to the flagship program in Bachelor of Technology in engineering studies, the institute has expanded into robust postgraduate and doctoral programs.

𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗼-𝗝𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝗜𝗧 𝗚𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗿

IIT Gandhinagar welcomed a delegation from The University of Tokyo as part of the Asia-X-ICT Programme, which promotes research collaboration in ICT across Asia, with a focus on socially relevant applications such as road safety, disaster prevention and healthcare in Southeast Asia.

The visit featured research presentations by U-Tokyo faculty and researchers, including Dr Deeksha Arya and Dr Yoshihide Sekimoto (Director and Professor, Center for Spatial Information Science). The sessions provided an opportunity to learn about ongoing research and explore potential avenues for academic and research collaboration.

The delegation also interacted with IITGN faculty and researchers and visited relevant research facilities and laboratories.

The visit strengthened opportunities for Indo-Japan academic engagement and collaborative research in ICT and its societal applications.

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 | 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆

Day 4 of the Faculty Development Programme for ASEAN and Global South took participants on a study tour to the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat.

The visit offered glimpses of the Statue of Unity , the Sardar Sarovar Dam , and the Museum of the Statue of Unity, along with a bird’s-eye view of the surrounding landscape.

The programme is organised by IIT Gandhinagar under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

A day of exploration, cultural exchange and shared experiences beyond the classroom.

𝗜𝗜𝗧 𝗚𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗦𝘄𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗛𝗶 𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

As part of Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026, IIT Gandhinagar marked the beginning of its campaign with a Swachhata Pledge on campus, bringing members of the Institute community together for a collective commitment towards cleanliness and environmental responsibility.

Being observed from September 17 to October 17, 2026, this year’s campaign focuses on ‘Swachhata Mein Sahbhag; Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat’, with an emphasis on participation, collective ownership and strengthening the involvement of students and youth in Swachhata initiatives.

At IIT Gandhinagar, the campaign will encourage members of the Institute community to contribute towards a cleaner campus and adopt responsible and sustainable practices as part of everyday life.

𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀-𝗢𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝗜𝗧𝗚𝗡

IIT Gandhinagar organised a Hands-On Patent Accelerator Workshop, offering participants a practical understanding of the patenting process and the journey from identifying a potentially patentable idea to developing meaningful patent claims.

The workshop was led by Dr T Pavan Kumar, Principal Scientist, Department of R&D Planning and Business Development, CSIR–Institute of Minerals & Materials Technology, Bhubaneswar.

The interactive sessions covered:
• IP Spectrum and Patents to Profits
• Understanding the Anatomy of a Patent
• Patentability Assessment and Patent Search and
• Hands-on Patent Claim Drafting.

The workshop provided participants with an opportunity to engage with key aspects of intellectual property, patent searching and claim drafting through a hands-on learning approach.

IIT Gandhinagar and Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently, for improved collaboration in research, technology, capacity building and professional development.

The partnership will facilitate joint research and development, specialised training, knowledge exchange and engagement with IITGN’s professional academic programmes. It will also create opportunities for IITGN students to gain exposure to real-world challenges through internships and other collaborative engagements.

The MoU was signed by Sunil Joshi, IPS, Deputy Inspector General, Gujarat ATS, and Prof Vimal Mishra, Dean R&D, in the presence of in the presence of Prof Rajat M***a, Director, IITGN; Mr Siddharth Korukonda, IPS from Gujarat ATS; Prof Sivapriya Kirubakaran, Professor, Chemistry, IITGN; Mr Anand Pandey, Chief Operating Officer, IIEC, IITGN and other faculty members.
