As a part of experiential learning, the students of Grades II to V visited the Railway Station to gain first-hand knowledge about railway operations and the experience of travelling by train. The excitement among the students was evident, especially for those who had never seen a train closely or experienced a train journey before.
The students explored the railway station and observed its multiple platforms, trains arriving and departing, and the busy movement of passengers. The Station Master interacted with the students and explained how railway traffic is managed, how trains are regulated, and how signals play an important role in ensuring the safe movement of trains.
The students also learned about the importance of railway tickets. They understood that a ticket contains essential information such as the train details, coach number, seat or berth number, and other journey details, helping passengers locate their designated seats easily. They were also made aware of the importance of carrying a valid identity card (ID) while travelling, particularly as it helps establish a passenger's identity during emergencies or other situations.
The students were introduced to different types of trains and various seating and accommodation arrangements, including AC Three-Tier (3A), AC First Class (1A), and other coaches. This helped them understand that railway travel offers different facilities and arrangements according to passengers' needs.
The visit was an exciting and informative experience that connected classroom learning with the real world. It helped students develop an understanding of public transport, railway safety, discipline, responsibility, and the importance of following travel rules.
Overall, the railway station visit was a memorable learning experience, leaving the students curious, enthusiastic, and eager to learn more about train journeys and the fascinating world of railways.
