The School Health Programme (SHP) under the aegis of the Ayushman Bharat Initiative of Government of India was launched by the Honourable Prime Minister of India in April 2018 and subsequently initiated across the country and in Gujarat in the month of December 2018. The SHP is a joint collaborative programme between two lead ministries of Government of India which are - the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Education. The programme aims to provide health education, health promotion, disease prevention, and improve access to health services in an integrated, systemic manner at the school level. The National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) at the national level is the lead agency assigned to develop content for School Health Programme and State Councils for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) have been tasked to roll-out the school health programme in the respective States. GCERT and UNESCO New Delhi Office have been already leading the School Health Programme in Gujarat under the title —SPArSH—State Programme on Adolescent School Health. C3 New Delhi and UNESCO New Delhi have now engaged ITOWE Development Foundation as the technical partner for implementing this phase of the programme in Gujarat.
