The whole of India was groping under the suffocating darkness of bo***ge under the British rule and our beloved Gajol had been under the spell of ignorance, illiteracy and superstition. At this juncture this only learning centre came into its glorious existence as a Middle English School in 1942- the unforgettable year of Quit India Movement. Barendra soil and the ever-unsatiated ex-Presidentian, was the master-mind behind the epoch-making foundation of this great edifice of education and enlightenment in a remote locality of Gajol, far from the madding crowd of the towns and cities and predominantly inhabited by the people belonging to S.C.’s, S.T.’s and O.B.C.’s. The tiny learning ‘Gurukul’ of the pre-Independence period came to be upgraded and recognised as a High School in 1945 by Calcutta University, as an H.S. School (Class XI) with Science, Commerce and Humanities in 1963 by W.B. Board of Secondary Education and lastly as a XII-Class School in 1976 by W.B. Council of H. Education. It has now at the present moment by the year 2015, been turned into a gorgeous academy accommodating nearly 3200 pupils under the parental care and pragmatic guidance of more than 57 teaching and 11 non-teaching personnel. Since more than seven decades back this educational Institution has been carrying the flashlight of knowledge and wisdom illuminating thousands and lakhs of pupils of the far and the near. The Institution with its congenial M.C., its proficient Headmaster, Asstt.-Headmaster and highly qualified amiable teachers and its thousands of socially and financially-established taught, seems to have been able to actualise the unfulfilled dream of Saikh Bafatullah in respect of its being ‘a model one’. The Institution having been situated in the conjunction of National Highway 34 to the West , State Highway 10 to the east, Gajol Railway Station & Rural Hospital to the north, does now possess four well furnished and modernised Science & Geography laboratories , one library, one Computer Laboratory with KYN Projector facilities, a big, spacious and separate hostel besides recently built airy, well-ventilated classrooms, teachers’ common room , guardians’ waiting room, super-filtered drinking water facility , generator facility, and a large patch of green as its playground opposite our main premises.
