“Jaycee” (JC), an abbreviation for Junior Chamber, is an Internati
onal Organization engaged in Personal Development of youths and identifies persons belonging to this Organization as well. Being associated with this Organization we were enlightened that children have in them a large reservoir of potential of which a very small quantity is gainfully utilized, and that they should be properly trained to channel their energy into studies and other activities which may help build their personality in all dimensions and open up new vistas. Deteriorating standard of education and declining moral values have always been a subject of discussion, but little has been done to check and improve upon them. The desire to do our best to avert this situation and to educate and train the learners not only for individual glory but also for better human values honesty, selflessness, patriotism etc. paved the way for an establishment which can serve the purpose. Thus the idea of opening a school was conceived. to cater the long standing needs of the surrounding community the ‘Jaycee English Medium School’ was founded in Gadag in 1987 under the auspices of “IID”. It nurtures full faith in the dictum “Better Individual Better Community”. Its objective enables the learner to conceive ‘Academic Excellence and the other needs do not take precedence over one’s being a good human’. The very thought of globalization invokes the adage ‘Survival of the Fittest’ which in turn necessitates motivated learning and effective teaching. The School opened with just 18 students on roll in LKG and grew up to class ten by 1996. Later crèche, a place where little children of working parents are taken care and Pre Nursery class was started. The total strength (600) of school is very small in quantity but not in quality. Not to compromise with quality and to ensure personal and individual care for the pupils, the Managing Committee has restricted admission 35-40 per class.. To justify “Pursuit of excellence is an unending process”, workshops, seminars and lectures are organized in order to keep teachers updated on modern techniques and methods of teaching. Besides teaching and completing school curriculum, the Management takes keen interest in holding Personality Development courses on Effective Public Speaking, Confidence Building, Leadership traits, Discover Yourself, Relationship with parents, Career Analysis, How to face Exam, Study Techniques, Team Building, Creativity etc. for students by inviting National and International Trainers from across the county. This is one of the regular activities on the school calendar of events. These efforts have given positive achievements. The school sent the first batch in 1992 obtaining 100% result at the SSLC exam. The school is in the enviable position having produced 100% pass in succession at the SSLC Exams till this year (2016), a record performance. Parents’ meetings are held twice a year to know and solve their problems. Their wisdom and suggestions are invited during the meetings for improvement and development of the school at large.
