Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib, organised an Anti-Ragging Orientation Programme for newly admitted undergraduate and postgraduate students as part of its ongoing efforts to create awareness about the harmful effects of ragging and ensure a safe, respectful and ragging-free campus environment. College Principal Dr. Bikramjit Singh appreciated this initiative and said that campus of Mata Gujri College is ragging free campus and college is committed to provide peaceful and protective academic environment to students. Dr. Jagdish Singh, Convener of the Anti-Ragging Committee, along with members of the committee, interacted with the students during the programme. He sensitised them about the adverse physical, psychological and social consequences of ragging and emphasised that any form of ragging is unacceptable. The students were apprised of the functioning of the Anti-Ragging Committee, the procedure for reporting any incident or concern, and the importance of submitting the Anti-Ragging Form.
Awareness videos depicting the consequences of ragging were also screened to reinforce the message among the students. Senior students also shared their experiences. They stated that they had not encountered any such problem in the college. They encouraged the newly admitted students to maintain friendly and positive relations with senior students and assured them that they could approach teachers or members of the Anti-Ragging Committee without hesitation in case of any concern. The programme concluded with a reaffirmation of Mata Gujri College’s commitment to providing a secure, inclusive, supportive and completely ragging-free environment for every student.
