Sumadhur School of Performing Arts

It was truly an enchanting evening to be honoured with the 13th Lokmat Surjyotsna National Music Award 2026, amidst many distinguished personalities, at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre on 24th April.

I express my deep gratitude to Dr. Vijay Darda, the Chairman, and the esteemed jury for conferring upon me this honour. I truly appreciate the remarkable efforts of Dr. Vijay Darda, his daughter, and the entire team for this meaningful initiative in memory of Late Mrs. Jyotsna Vijay Darda, a true sadhika of Indian classical music.

The evening became even more memorable with the popular music of Kailash Kher. I was very happy to meet Pt. L. K. Pandit ji, who was also honoured with this award, along with his family, Meeta Pandit, and many other eminent personalities.

I was also happy to sing a few lines of a Meera Bhajan on Lord Rama, composed by myself at their kind request.

Above all, it is by the Almighty’s grace. Such awards are truly encouraging and, at the same time, inspire me to continue my journey of propagating our rich music and cultural heritage.

It was a deeply fulfilling and beautiful experience performing at KCC Institute of Technology and Management, Greater Noida, under the aegis of S**C MACAY on 21st April.

I was extremely happy to see several hundreds of students listening with rapt attention, maintaining pin-drop silence throughout the recital. I presented a traditional and my own compositions in Raag Brindavan Sarang, my own composition in adda teental in Raag Shivranjani, and a Meera Bhajan (composed by me) for such a receptive audience was truly heartening.

It gives me immense satisfaction to witness that today’s youth are gradually developing an interest in our age-old classical music tradition. Such moments reaffirm faith in the continuity of our rich cultural heritage.

I was ably accompanied by Shri Suman Chatterjee on Tabla, Shri Lalit Sisodiya on Harmonium, and my senior disciple Smt. Reena Mathur on Tanpura.

I express my sincere thanks to Dr. Kiran Seth, Saba ji, and the institute authority for their kind invitation and warm hospitality.

I am truly happy and honoured to be invited for the Lokmat Sur Jyotsna National Music Awards 2026 which will be held on Friday, 24th April 2026 at 6:00 PM onwards, at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath Road, New Delhi.

I had a truly beautiful and fulfilling experience performing at Hansraj College, DU on 7th April. The students maintained pin-drop silence throughout the recital, and even after I concluded, they eagerly wished to listen more. Many of them came forward to share that they found the experience mesmerizing and blissful.

Moments like these bring immense satisfaction—it is heartening to see our youth developing a genuine interest in classical music. It is indeed a very encouraging and positive sign for the future of our rich musical heritage.

It was a truly pleasant experience sharing my life journey on the theme “Gravity & Glitch” at TEDx Talk, Shivaji College, DU, on 2nd April.
Life is never a bed of roses—everyone faces struggles. But a positive attitude, faith in oneself, and trust in the divine always guide us forward.

I am grateful that my talk was so warmly received. My heartfelt thanks to the Principal, Smita ji, and the entire college administration for inviting me.

I was extremely happy to visit my home state and inaugurate the building of Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ)’s music academy in Vizag. I was very kindly invited by Dr. Jitendra Sharma.

I was amazed to see the monumental work being done at AMTZ, along with his dedication and hard work. Myself and my daughter-in-law Romita had a very pleasant stay and fruitful discussions.

I also visited the famous Simhachalam Temple, which I had visited as a child.

My heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jitendra Sharma, and special thanks to his wonderful team—Dr. Geetha and Barnali.
AMTZ LTD

With the objective of promoting Indian classical music and our rich cultural heritage, our function “Swarotsav” was successfully conducted on 21st March 2026 with part sponsorship from NZCC (Ministry of Culture, Government of India), in collaboration with The Shriram Millennium School, Faridabad. The event was very well received by one and all.

The program commenced with an introduction to Sumadhur Hansdhwani Trust, followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting by our honoured guests, Shri Kailash Sharma ji and Shri Kunal Verma ji. We extend our special thanks to Smt. Uttara Singh ji (Director, The Shriram Millennium School) and Smt. Sonali Gupta ji (Principal, The Shriram Millennium School) for their support and encouragement.

We are grateful to Pt. Vijay Shankar Mishra ji (UPSNA awardee) for his engaging and graceful anchoring.

The program continued with a Guru Vandana presented by my disciples. This was followed by vocal recitals by my senior disciples Shri Hetartho Chatterjee and Dr-Neepaa Choudhury. It is always a moment of immense pride for a Guru to witness the performances of his/her disciples, and I am delighted that both Hetartho and Neepa did justice to it.

The evening was further enriched by an outstanding sarod recital by Pt. Tejendra Majumdar (Padmashri and sna awardee), followed by a mesmerizing concluding performance by Dr. Nabanita Chowdhary.

Special thanks to Shri Suman Chatterjee, Shri Sumit Mishra, and Shri Shubh Maharaj for their excellent accompaniment.
A heartfelt mention to Suman Chatterjee for his tireless dedication in managing every aspect of the event. I also extend my love and blessings to my dear disciples- Hetartho, Renu, Ruby—and my daughters-in-laws Romita Guha and Madhavi Karunakaram Guha and other disciples.

Above all, I bow to the Almighty for bestowing these opportunities upon us and for life with music filled with devotion & bliss.

We celebrate our regional New Years by different names, as we speak diverse languages—yet the spirit and essence remain the same. We are all children of our beloved Mother India.
