Day 11 of the Two-Week FDP on Cross-Sectional Data Analysis Using STATA focused on an emerging and highly relevant area in contemporary research: the Do’s and Don’ts of Using Artificial Intelligence for STATA Coding.

The session was delivered by Dr. Avik Sinha , who provided valuable insights into the effective integration of AI tools, particularly ChatGPT, into the research workflow. He highlighted how researchers can use AI more efficiently for developing STATA codes, debugging errors, improving analytical approaches, and enhancing productivity while maintaining research ethics and methodological rigor. The session also emphasized the importance of understanding the limitations of AI tools and using them as research assistants rather than substitutes for analytical reasoning.

Following the conceptual session, Dr. Durairaj Kumarasamy and Dr. Akash Kumar Baikar conducted a hands-on practical session, guiding participants through the application of AI tools for STATA-based research activities. The interactive exercises helped participants understand how to frame effective prompts, generate and refine STATA commands, and apply AI-assisted approaches for data analysis.

The session was highly insightful, bridging the gap between technological innovation and empirical research practices. It enhanced participants’ confidence in leveraging AI responsibly to make quantitative research more efficient, accurate, and impactful.

Day 10 | Two-Week Faculty Development Programme on Cross-Sectional Data Analysis Using STATA

The FDP continued with an enriching session on "Multinomial Logit and Probit Models Using STATA" delivered by Dr. Shreya Biswas, Associate Professor, Department of Economics and Finance, BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus.

The session provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical foundations of binary and multinomial choice models, their practical relevance in empirical research, model estimation, interpretation, and applications using real-world datasets. Through a blend of conceptual discussions, empirical illustrations, and hands-on demonstrations, participants gained valuable insights into applying these models for research across diverse disciplines.

The practical learning experience was further strengthened through an engaging hands-on STATA session facilitated by Dr. Akash Kumar Baikar, who guided participants in model estimation, interpretation of outputs, odds ratios, marginal effects, and post-estimation analysis using STATA.

The interactive sessions equipped participants with the confidence to apply advanced discrete choice models in their own research and highlighted the growing importance of evidence-based quantitative analysis in addressing contemporary research and policy questions.

The Day 8 sessions of our Two-Week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Cross-Sectional Data Analysis Using STATA were both insightful and practice-oriented, further strengthening participants' analytical and statistical modeling skills.

We were privileged to have 𝐃𝐫. 𝐕𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐆𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐦, Co-Founder of The Policy Edge, who delivered an engaging session on the Application of Multiple Linear Regression using Categorical Variables and Post-Estimation Techniques. The session provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of incorporating categorical variables into regression models and interpreting post-estimation results for robust empirical analysis.

The learning experience was further enriched by 𝐃𝐫. Durairaj Kumarasamy, who conducted an interactive hands-on session, enabling participants to apply the concepts in STATA through practical exercises and real-world datasets. His guidance helped bridge the gap between theory and application, enhancing participants' confidence in statistical data analysis.

Today's session has offered participants an engaging blend of theoretical insights and practical application.

The day's academic session, "Linear Regression and Generalized Least Square Methods: Theory and Practice," was delivered by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐕𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐕𝐚𝐢𝐛𝐡𝐚𝐯, who provided a comprehensive understanding of regression techniques, the assumptions underlying linear models, and the application of Generalized Least Squares (GLS) for addressing heteroscedasticity and improving estimation efficiency. The session highlighted the relevance of these methods in empirical research and data-driven decision-making.

The hands-on training sessions were expertly conducted by 𝐃𝐫. Durairaj Kumarasamy and 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐤𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐊𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐫, who guided participants through implementing regression models and GLS techniques using STATA. Day 6 of the One-Week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Advanced Research Methods Using STATA featured an engaging and highly interactive hands-on session led by Dr. Prakash Singh. The session focused on strengthening participants' understanding of data visualization techniques and exploring relationships between variables through graphical analysis.

Participants were introduced to a range of visualization tools in STATA, including histograms, bar graphs for categorical variables, continuous-by-categorical plots, and one-way and two-way scatter plots. A key highlight of the session was learning how scatter plots can be effectively used to understand, interpret, and communicate relationships between variables in research.

The practical nature of the session enabled participants to apply these concepts directly using STATA, with step-by-step demonstrations and real-time exercises. The interactive discussions encouraged participants to explore different visualization approaches, interpret graphical outputs, and gain confidence in presenting research findings effectively.

The session reinforced the importance of data visualization as a powerful tool for transforming complex datasets into meaningful insights. The session was expertly delivered by 𝐃𝐫. Prakash 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐡, who highlighted the significance of effective data visualization in transforming complex datasets into meaningful insights. The session covered key visualization principles, best practices, and the role of graphical representation in enhancing research quality and communicating findings more effectively.
The practical hands-on component of the day was guided by 𝐃𝐫. Durairaj Kumarasamy and 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐤𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐊𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐫, who provided step-by-step demonstrations using STATA. Day 4 | Two-Week Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Cross-Sectional Data Analysis Using STATA

Under the expert guidance of Dr. Durairaj Kumarasamy and Dr. Akash Kumar Baikar, the fourth day of the Two-Week Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Cross-Sectional Data Analysis Using STATA focused on **Multi-way Cross Tabulation, Table Customization, and Exporting Tables to Microsoft Word and Excel.

The session provided participants with practical exposure to advanced Multi-way Cross Tabulation techniques, enabling the analysis of relationships among multiple variables for deeper and more meaningful insights. Participants also learned Table Customization methods to improve the presentation, readability, and interpretation of statistical outputs.

A key component of the session was the efficient export of tables to Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, equipping participants with the skills to prepare professional reports, share research findings, and present analytical results in publication-ready formats.

The interactive and hands-on approach adopted by the resource persons ensured that participants gained both conceptual understanding and practical expertise, reinforcing the importance of effective data analysis and reporting in research.
