The Department of Pharmacognosy and IQAC at The Erode College of Pharmacy successfully hosted a webinar titled "Green Pathway in Drug Discovery: The Role of Pharmacognosy" on 7th April 2026. Held in the auditorium, the event attracted around 100 student volunteers, including II Pharm D, I D.Pharm, and both I and II-year M.Pharm students.

The session, which ran from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, proved to be incredibly insightful for the attendees. The key focus was on the quality control and standardization of herbs and herbal formulations, providing invaluable knowledge to the students.
The resource person, Mrs. Mallipaddi Prinka M, an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Shri Venkateshwara College of Pharmacy, Pondicherry, expertly led the session. Her insights into the evolving role of pharmacognosy in modern drug discovery were greatly appreciated.

A Q&A session at the end of the webinar allowed students to engage directly with the expert, addressing their queries and enhancing their understanding of the subject.

The webinar was organized under the leadership of Professor Dr. M. Senthil Kumar, Department of Pharmacognosy, with the support of the organizing committee members: Dr. V.R. Ravikumar, HOD; M. Loganayagi, Maheshwari, and Diwakar, Lecturers from the Department of Pharmacognosy.

The session was an excellent learning opportunity, leaving students with a deeper appreciation of pharmacognosy's role in drug discovery.

The Students DHIVYA.S And MATHUMITHA.N M.Pharm, I -year Department of Pharmacognosy from The Erode College of Pharmacy has been actively Participated in Two Days workshop on “Basic plant tissue culture on banana production and secondary metabolites” conducted By Rathinam College of Pharmacy - Coimbatore.

On Day 1: We Learned Theoretically About Basic Plant Tissue Culture and the Instruments required for Plant tissue culture. We also went to banana field which is located in Kuniyamuthur. In Field Visit we gained knowledge about selection of mother plant and the disease that affect the Banana plant.

On Day 2: They gave Hands on Training on Plant Tissue culture, Preparation of Explant, Media preparation, Inoculation of explant into the culture media and Incubation.

Dr. G. Sumithira, Professor, Department of Pharmacology, Erode College of Pharmacy, attended the two-day Regional Training Programme for Nominees of CCSEA.

The programme was organized by CCSEA, Government of India, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and held at Dayananda Sagar University, Harohalli, Bengaluru, on 16th and 17th March 2026.

The training focused on CCSEA guidelines, IAEC functioning, and ethical practices in animal experimentation.

The programme was informative and beneficial for fulfilling responsibilities as a Nominee.

National Vaccination Day Awareness Program Report
An awareness program on the occasion of National Vaccination Day was successfully organized by the Department of Pharmacognosy in association with the NSS Unit and II Pharm.D students on 16.03.2026 at The Erode College of Pharmacy, Erode.
The program commenced with a warm welcome and keynote address delivered by Dr. V.R. Ravikkumar, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy. His address highlighted the importance of vaccination in public health.
Prof. Dr. M. Senthilkumar delivered an insightful speech on the history of vaccination, while Mr. S. Stanley Baskar elaborated on various vaccination methods and their significance in disease prevention.
The II Pharm.D students actively contributed by presenting an informative awareness session on HPV vaccination, emphasizing its role in preventing cervical cancer and promoting community health.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. M. Jambulingam, NSS Programme Officer, who expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers.
The organizing team extends sincere thanks to our respected Principal, Dr. R. Sambathkumar, and the Management for their continuous support and encouragement in making this event a success.

National Pharmacy Education Day – Pharma Anveshan 2026
Introduction
The Department of Pharmaceutics & IQAC of The Erode College of Pharmacy, Erode, in association with the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi and Outreech Academy, organized a One Day Workshop on “Future Pharma Ecosystem: Uniting Academia, Industry, Regulatory and Healthcare Systems.” The program was conducted on 09th March 2026 at the ECP A/C Auditorium to mark the occasion of National Pharmacy Education Day.
Resource Person
The workshop session was delivered by Mr. K. Gopi, M.Sc., M.Phil (Biotech), Plant Head, Medi Grand Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., Puducherry. The resource person shared valuable insights about the evolving pharmaceutical ecosystem and highlighted the importance of collaboration between academia, industry, regulatory authorities, and healthcare systems.
Participation
Around 250 students from various pharmacy programs and 10 faculty members actively participated in the workshop. The participants showed great interest and actively engaged in the interactive session.

Our M.Pharm students from the Department of Pharmaceutics, The Erode College of Pharmacy, successfully participated in a one-day workshop titled “Mastering Dissolution Testing and Data Interpretation” on 28.02.2026. The workshop was organized at Sree Abirami College of Pharmacy, Coimbatore.
During the workshop, students gained valuable hands-on training in dissolution testing and data interpretation, enhancing their practical understanding of pharmaceutical formulations. This experience will greatly support their academic learning and future research activities.
Such programs help in strengthening practical knowledge and research skills among budding pharmacy professionals.

We are delighted to share our enriching experience at the Two Days International Conference on “AI-Powered 4R’s: Ethical and Innovative Alternatives to Animal Testing”, held on 27th & 28th February 2026 at Karpagam College of Pharmacy, Coimbatore, Organized by the Department of Pharmacology. The conference was sponsored by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and co-sponsored by the Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India.
The event focused on ethical research practices and innovative AI-driven approaches aligned with the 4R principles, aiming to promote humane and scientifically advanced alternatives to animal testing.The sessions were highly informative and well-coordinated, bringing together distinguished speakers, academicians, researchers and students. The discussions on AI integration in preclinical research, regulatory perspectives, and emerging alternative models were truly insightful and thought-provoking.
Student Participation:
We are proud to share that 22 Diploma students and 1 B.Pharm student actively participated in the conference. Additionally, 3 students enthusiastically engaged in the seminar sessions, contributing to interactive discussions and knowledge exchange. Their active involvement reflects a strong interest in ethical and innovative research practices.
The conference concluded on a positive and inspiring note, leaving participants motivated to embrace responsible research methodologies and technological advancements in pharmaceutical sciences.

With profound grief and deep sorrow, we inform the Management Members, Principal, Staff, Students, Alumni, and the entire ECP family that our beloved Secretary and Correspondent, Thiru A. Natraajan Avl, has passed away due to health issues.
He was a visionary leader, a guiding force, and a pillar of strength for The Erode College of Pharmacy. His unwavering dedication, commitment to academic excellence, and constant encouragement have shaped the growth of our institution and the future of countless students. His invaluable contributions to ECP and to pharmacy education will always be remembered with gratitude and deep respect.
This is an irreparable loss to the entire ECP fraternity.

Internal Complaints Committee Meeting (ICC) - Collector Office, Erode.

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) meeting was conducted on 25th February 2026 at the Collector Office, Erode, commencing at 10.00 a.m. The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness about workplace safety, prevention of harassment, and the effective functioning of the Internal Complaints Committee in various institutions.

More than 100 participants attended the meeting. The attendees represented diverse sectors including schools, colleges, government departments, and other institutions. The wide participation reflected the growing importance of ensuring a safe and respectful working environment across all professional fields.
Mrs. Thenmozhi M.L., Coimbatore, was invited as the Chief Guest for the programme. She is a distinguished resource person with expertise in matters related to workplace safety and women’s protection laws. In her keynote address, she delivered an enlightening and engaging session that kept the audience attentive throughout. Her presentation style was clear, interactive, and thought-provoking, ensuring that the participants remained actively involved and did not feel fatigued during the session.

Mrs. Thenmozhi elaborated in detail on the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act). She explained the objectives of the Act, its significance in safeguarding employees, and the legal responsibilities of organizations in implementing its provisions. The session covered the rules, policies, and mandatory requirements that institutions must follow to comply with the Act.

The meeting concluded at 12.30 p.m. with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest and all participants for their valuable presence and contribution. The programme was successful in enhancing awareness and strengthening the implementation of workplace safety mechanisms across institutions.

National Girl Child Day was observed on 24th January 2026 at 04.00 PM in the Lecture Hall of The Erode College of Pharmacy with the objective of promoting awareness about the importance of girl child education, empowerment, equality, and overall well-being.
The programme commenced with a Welcome Address delivered by Dr. V. R. Ravikumar, Professor &HOD. Department of Pharmacognosy who emphasized the significance of National Girl Child Day and highlighted the need to ensure equal opportunities, education, and safety for the girl child in society.
This was followed by an enlightening speech by Dr. M. Senthilkumar, Professor. Department of Pharmacognosy who spoke about the role of education and healthcare in empowering the girl child and stressed the importance of gender equality and social responsibility.
Subsequently, Dr. M. Jambulingam NSS Programme officer, delivered an insightful address focusing on women empowerment, leadership, and the crucial role of the girl child in nation building. The speaker motivated students to support and promote the rights and dignity of girls in all spheres of life.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr.S.Dhivakar, Assistant Professor. Department of Pharmacognosy who expressed sincere gratitude to the management, faculty members, speakers, NSS volunteers, and students for their active participation and cooperation.
The event concluded with a strong message advocating empowerment, equality, and respect for the girl child.
