AADI PERUKKU CELEBRATION REPORT

The Divine Nursery and Primary School, Karungalpalayam, Erode, celebrated Aadi Perukku with great enthusiasm and traditional spirit on 31st July 2026. The celebration was organized to create awareness among students about the cultural importance of Aadi Perukku and to inculcate respect for nature, water resources, and agriculture.
The programme began with a special prayer led by the teachers and students. Prayers were offered for prosperity, good rainfall, and the well-being of all. A beautiful display of sprouted grains and traditional offerings was arranged, symbolizing fertility, abundance, and the blessings of Mother Nature.
Teachers explained the significance of Aadi Perukku and its connection with rivers, water bodies, and farming traditions. Students actively participated by delivering speeches and recitations related to the festival.
The cultural programme added colour to the celebration. Students dressed in traditional attire performed folk dances, kummi, kolattam, and other cultural events with great enthusiasm. Their performances reflected the richness of Tamil culture and received appreciation from all.
The celebration created an atmosphere of devotion, joy, and cultural pride in the school campus. Teachers, students, and staff members participated wholeheartedly and made the event memorable.
Our Principal, Mei. K. Devaki, highlighted the importance of Aadi 18 (Pathinettam Perukku)* and explained its cultural significance. She also paid tribute to the great freedom fighter Dheeran Chinnamalai on his memorial day and spoke about his patriotism, bravery, and sacrifice for the nation.*
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the management, teachers, students, and staff members for their support and participation.
