Twelve MBA students from the Kochi Business School underwent the Advanced Self-Analytics program at The Pattern Institute's Prof. MK Menon Center for Pattern Intelligence, located at Shilpi Heritage, Kalikotta Road, Trippunithura.
It was great interacting with these twelve youth who will soon be entering the competitive business world. Detailed discussions and reflections happened on the concept of FOLLOWERSHIP and also on PURPOSE to IMPACT. The fundamental strategies were connected with the eternal attitudinal-values (BHAVAS) of Cooperation (YAJNA), Sacrifice (THYAGA), Dedication (SAMARPANA), and Abundance (PRASADHA). The team deliberated on several personal renewal strategies focused on iFOCUS (Initiative, Followership, Ownership, Collaboration, Understanding, (small-l) Leadership) that emphasised the integration of fundamental human aptitudes rooted in Knowledge-K.Deficits-Projection (Sattva-Tamas-Rajas) and Attitudes. These attitudes, of creativity-productivity-enrichment-skills, when integrated in one's work result in stardom.
The participants were also exposed to the basics of taking care of the brain with special focus on cognitive development. Learning, perfecting, and retraining is aided by the fundamental brain processes of neuroplasticity composed of synaptic connections, myelination, and neurogenesis. The role of epigenetics was also discussed.
Each particpant started to work on a vision-board that capture the essence of the purpose-to-impact plan that they are developing during the next couple of weeks. This is hoped to provide inspiration in the long- and short-term pursuits of each.
Ms. Lakshmi Sreekumar (HR Secialist), Mr. Siddharth Menon (ETH Zurich - Computing) , and Ms. Aditi Namboodiri (Researcher-Gothic literature) provided class-room support and Mr. Ramachandra Menon (Impressario), and Mr. Krishnakumar Namboodiri (CA) shared experiences.
The Pattern Institute wishes the KBS students a very bright career as entrepreneurs and executives of the business world.

Culture of Knowledge and Innovation
There was great amount of emphasis on culture of knowledge and innovation in the Indic period. Our region experimented with several methods of knowledge assimilation and transmission, intuitive methods of connecting with knowledge, as well as methods for retention, delivery, and applications.
Somewhere along the way we lost that inspiration. Without going into the reasons for such a decay, let us now be more focussed on how to bring back the glory of intellectual capital. There is no point in talking about the glories of the past or regrets, nor there is anything to be achieved in merely being anxious and hopeless of our future. There is also no point in being agitated, lethargic, and procrastinating in the current frame of things. What we need is a mindful engagement in the process of establishing an order of knowledge, thought processes, and strategic translation of the knowledge to tangible benefits for mankind and universe.
INNOVATION implies that which:
(uthbhavakara) = CREATES, STARTS A BEGINNING
(uthkarshakara) = ENRICHES, BRINGS IN PROSPERITY
(bhUtha-bhAvodhbhavakara) = BENEFITS, IN TANGIBLE WAYS
(visarga) = EXPURGATES, TO ELEVATE
This Indic age wisdom on innovation is an established process of research and development in the modern age too. A culture of knowledge and innovation implies getting involved in inquiry, ideation, incubation, and institutionalization of concepts that create a beginning. It must be an idea that enriches as many โothersโ as possible by bringing in tangible benefits. The ideas and concepts that translate to tangible things must also be able to expurgate lower things to take us up forward and upward.
Economically advanced nations become so only through this process of knowledge and innovation. But it is also seen that mankind adopts the same process of innovation for negative and selfish goals. Selfish interests tend to enrich through destruction, directing benefits only to a select few, and often purging lofty ideals.

https://www.esri.com/en-us/disaster-response/disasters/flooding
Here is a link showing science & technology that helps visualize flood maps as well as help plan reponses. This technology also helps in anticipating flooding areas through hydrological modeling (among many other things).
The base maps are provided by detailed satellite imagery (we can select that) which is integrated onto the maps through a image processing and server technology that was developed by our team in the Sharjah UAE and Redlands USA. ArcGIS is used worldwide by millions of GIS professionals and planners. India Government also uses this technology. I am sure Kerala also has access to this technology.
It is just a question of understanding the science behind the catastrophies that we are witnessing quite regularly, and utilising these technologies effectively and efficiently. It requires will and the determination to succeed and not just the greed to exploit and aggrandize for selfish gains. 'Nature' is too powerful, but it can be tamed through 'thinking' and 'Science'. Only Human kind is blessed with these powers. Let us remember that. Let our children and youth be guided and exposed to such, as these thoughts.
When disaster strikes, we need volunteers and philanthopists to step in and help the unfortunate. Indeed, there is no doubt about that. Kerala has shown time and again, that despite political gimmicry, there are selfless people who step out and brave the challenges to help.
BUT can we as a society help our children and youth to start thinking proactively and step out to make a difference. Only then can our state (and nation) play its role in making us a developed country. A generational change of such 'thinking science', 'shaping minds', and 'working productively' is needed to make it happen. The Pattern Institute aims to so just that!
