Head of the School's message

On behalf of Global Education Research Foundation Malda, India I would like to welcome you to our website and the first glimpse of who we are. I hope you find it informative and reflective of our diverse, committed and warm community.

The school is in its 2nd year. We are under the trusteeship of "GERF Society". Our facilities are excellent, with a purpose-built school. Given this and the wonderful climate of Malda, most learning takes place beyond classroom walls, allowing for a unique and positive life-worthy learning experience.

At GERF, we place great emphasis on our learners, ‘leading their own learning’ through learning that is inquiry based, collaborative, relevant, current and meaningful. Our faculty act as facilitators and guides. We have created a learning culture where we encourage everyone to be courageous, and try new ways of learning. ‘Failure’ is seen as a learning opportunity. We operate on principles rather than rules. Further, we give our learners the tools to be reflective about their learning and to constantly be setting new goals to reach their desired targets. Learning at GERF is engaging and fluid and most of all it is fun!

GERF is also a great center for expatriate families in Malda. We host many community gatherings throughout the year. As a parent and newcomer, there is no better place to meet other people and to make friends. I invite you to visit our campus and see for yourself our unique learning landscape.

GERF Philosophy
Way back in 2018, our foundation document was created with this goal: “to develop Global Education & Research Foundation into an autonomous, multicultural, multinational, and parents of all communities of Indian and international society, providing an opportunity for a quality education coupled with a specially designed opportunity for deepened spiritual development.” As you can see, we were a truly international school right from the beginning! However, as our current successor long range planning document, “Design ’18, says:

‘This school is not just an international school that happens to be placed in India. India is part of what we are and we are committed to being a constructive part of the life of this nation. Our commitment to Indian society underpins our desire to educate and educate well in this setting. We are committed to education that takes on the richness of Indian history and culture and a progressive stance on positive social change in this context.’

GERF Mission Statement
