"মেঘেরা আমার জীবনে ভেসে আসে—ঝড় বা বৃষ্টির খবর বয়ে আনতে নয়, বরং আমার সূর্যাস্তের আকাশে রঙের ছোঁয়া বুলিয়ে দিতে।" -Rabindranath Tagore

Born on 17 March 1962 in Karnal, Haryana, Kalpana Chawla grew up in a small town but carried dreams far larger than its horizons.
She was a woman who gazed at the sky and dared to dream that she was a part of it.
With determination and passion, she became an aerospace engineer and also the first woman of Indian origin to travel to space with NASA on the Space Shuttle Columbia in 1997.
While most people look up at the sky from the ground and wonder, Kalpana Chawla looked down at the Earth from the sky. Though her life came to an untimely end, her dream never did.
Today on her birth anniversary, ISTE Students’ Chapter, NIT Durgapur remembers not only an astronaut but also a dreamer who has given hope to every student who dreams of touching the sky.

From reaching for the stars like Kalpana Chawla, to discovering the secrets of science like Marie Curie, women have expanded the horizon of what is possible.
Yet the history of women is not just recorded in the halls of the laboratory or the research center, but in the home where the homemaker holds families together with patience and the mother who wakes in the still of the night to feed her children. Every role is a dignified one. Every effort requires power.
Today, on International Women’s Day, the ISTE Students Chapter, NIT Durgapur celebrates not just the women who have paved the way for history to change, but the women who have held the world calm and at ease.

These shlokas reflect a humble surrender to Lord Shiva, the ultimate epitome of power. Maha Shivratri is observed as one of the most sacred festivals in Hindu tradition, which symbolizes spiritual awakening.
On this holy occasion, devotees observe fasts, perform abhishek of the Shivling with milk, water, honey, and bel leaves, and engage in prayers, meditation, and chanting. The night-long vigil signifies deep faith and surrender to divine grace.
Beyond its religious significance, Maha Shivratri encourages self-reflection, balance, and inner growth, guiding individuals towards mindfulness and peace.
On this auspicious occasion, ISTE Students’ Chapter, NIT Durgapur, wishes everyone a joyful and blessed Maha Shivratri.

Thomas Alva Edison’s life is proof that the world is not changed by the brightest minds, but by the most stubborn ones.
Labeled “unfit for school” at a young age, Edison grew up in a world that doubted him long before it understood him.
The electric bulb was not a moment of luck, it was the reward of relentless effort.
As he famously said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
While others feared failure, Edison made peace with it. Every burnt filament, every broken experiment was a silent rebellion against giving up.
On his birth anniversary, ISTE Students' Chapter NIT Durgapur celebrates a man who never settled for “good enough” and always believed there was a better way to do it.
