Mass is that property of an object by virtue of which it is able to eat full/part of a force or system of forces supplied/applied to it and produces proportional acceleration.
A theoretically massless object cannot independently have definite or defined physical acceleration as it cannot eat force as it has no mass.
The concepts of static or dynamic equilibrium and conservation of Mechanical energy is hidden in the above statements. Drawing of free body diagram related to massed or non-massed objects becomes meaningful if these statements are understood.
