Dum Dum Airport High School Alumni Association

আগামী ৮ ই সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২৪ (রবিবার) কমলাপুর স্কুলের গেট থেকে এয়ারপোর্ট ও কমলাপুরের প্রাক্তনী দের পদযাত্রা হবে আর জি কর হাসপাতালের মর্মান্তিক ঘটনার প্রতিবাদে ও ন্যায় বিচারের দাবিতে । সব প্রাক্তনী দের অংশ গ্রহণের অনুরোধ করছি ।

কিছুদিন আগে প্রয়াত হয়েছেন আমাদের বিদ্যালয়ের প্রাক্তন শিক্ষক আমাদের সহকর্মী যামিনী রঞ্জন ভদ্র। অনেক সুখ দু:খের স্মৃতি জড়িয়ে আছে যামিনী দার সাথে। প্রণাম জানাই । শোকস্তব্ধ পরিবার এবং অন্যান্য সহকর্মী এবং তাঁর স্নেহধন্য ছাত্র ছাত্রীদের আন্তরিক সমবেদনা জানাই।

আমাদের বিদ্যালয়ের প্রাক্তন শিক্ষক যামিনী রঞ্জন ভদ্র প্রয়াত হয়েছেন । শ্রদ্ধা জানাই।

গভীর দু:খের সাথে জানাচ্ছি আমাদের Alumni Association এর অন্যতম সংগঠক শ্রী তুষার মুখার্জির (লাল্টু) পুত্র গতকাল (৮/১/২২) এক মর্মান্তিক বাইক দুর্ঘটনায় প্রাণ হারিয়েছেন । শোক সন্তপ্ত পরিবারের প্রতি সন্তনা জানানোর ভাষা নেই ।

আমাদের বিদ্যালয়ের দুই প্রাক্তনী চন্দন মনি রায় এবং পশুপতি হালদার। অ্যালুমনি অ্যাসোসিয়েশন গঠনের প্রথম দিন থেকে এদের সক্রিয় ভূমিকা ছিল। দুজনেই আজ প্রয়াত।

আমাদের বিদ্যালয়ের সমস্ত প্রাক্তনী দের আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা জানাই । করোনা কালে আমরা হারিয়েছি আমাদের প্রাক্তনী চন্দন মনি রায় , পশুপতি হালদার , গায়ত্রী দি সহ অনেককে । হারিয়েছি বিদ্যালয়ের প্রাক্তন শিক্ষা কর্মী অরূপ দা ও তার একমাত্র সন্তান কে । সব প্রয়াত দের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা জানাই । শোকাহত পরিবার পরিজন দের জানাই আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা ।

গভীর দুঃখ ও বেদনার সাথে জানাচ্ছি আমাদের Alumni Association এর অভিভাবিকা সদস্যা গায়ত্রী দি এবং তাঁর স্বামী আর আমাদের মধ্যে নেই । আজ কিছুক্ষন আগে উদয়দার টেলিফোন এসেছিল । ওনার কাছ থেকেই পেলাম এই মর্মান্তিক দুঃসংবাদ । আমরা শোকস্তব্ধ । সমবেদনা জানানোর মতো কেউ ঐ পরিবারে রইলেন না । একমাত্র পুত্র প্রয়াত হয়েছেন ।

Dum Dum Airport High School was established on 7th February 1949 by the employees of Civil Aviation Department and CPWD , Govt. Of India . Many more local persons interested in education were also joined in this noble effort . The primary aim was to offer basic and Madhyamik education to the children of the above noted employees . This School was first recognised on 16th January 1957, Next on 26th April 1964 the School was recognised as Class X High School vide Memo No.8523/G/1 dated 26.4.1963. Government Grant to run the school smoothly was sanctioned on 20th October 1959 .The School was recognised as H.S. School on 27.8.1977. Final recognition as H.S. was received on27.7.91 vide Memo No. 5036/recog./31 dated 27.7.91. Within a few years this bengali medium school became a renowned school of this locality . Students from adjacent areas like 2No. and 1No. Motilal Colony , Khalisha kota Pally , Rajarhat and other places started to take admission in this School .
Three barracks of Dum Dum Airport were used as the class rooms and administrative building of the school . The Airport Authority sanctioned these barracks to the school authority with a nominal rent of Rs. 1 for building and Rs. 1 for electricity charge . Thus the fate of the school deeply entangled with the fate of Dum Dum Airport . Our school barracks had no boundary wall or fencing. But the old quarters from where most of our students used to come , made a human fencing surrounding the school .
But unfortunately our golden days have come to an end with the chnging policy of Airport Authority . Primarily our school was the only sanctioned school within the jurisdiction of the Airport Authority . Even the English medium and Hindi Medium schools had to arrange their Board Exams . through our school . Later ,these schools also got their approval from WBBSE . The old Quarters were demolished . As we were simply the tenants of Airport Authority , no building grants were sanctioned to us . The barracks were old enough but we were not permitted for any kind of renovation work . At the begining of the 21 st Century the Airport Authority took tha Modernisation Project . Airport Club ground and airport jheel ceased to exist . We had to face the problem of constant water logging and dust pollution for a long period . We informed the airport authority again and again but they show less interest to our demands . Most of our students left the school . New admission stopped .
In this grave situation we organised our Diamond Jubilly Celebration on 7th and 8th February 2009 just to invite the attention of the local people and local administration regarding our problems. First of all our ex - students came forward. Our ex -students who were then in AAI service and in important position in the West Bengal Government Service gave us valuable suggestion. The first re- union of the ex- students of our school also organised by them as a part of Diamond Jubilly Celebration.
Our next step was to send an appeal to the Chairman of the Pollution Control Board , West Bengal . We sent this appeal on 9 th September 2009 . They took quick action and asked Airport Authority to take immidiate step in this regard . Some daily newspapers also came forward and took interview of the joint secretary of the Re - Union Committee.
Now , under the pressure of the Pollution Control Board and our ex students then working in the AAI , the Airport Authority started negociation with us regarding the shifting of our School Building to a suitable place . Finally , the MOU was signed on 7th December 2010.
The construction our new building started on 2011 and completed within 2013. On 13th May 2013 the new building was handed over to the School Authority . The new building was inaugurated by Shri V .P. Agarwal on 13th May 2013 .
This was a glorious victory of the local peeople , the School Authority and obviously the Ex - Students of our School .

চন্দন দা ( চন্দন মনি রায় ) আর নেই । দমদম এয়ারপোর্ট হাই স্কুলের প্রাক্তন ছাত্র ছাত্রীদের পুনর্মিলন উৎসবের প্রাণ পুরুষ ছিলেন । আমরা এয়ারপোর্ট হাই স্কুলের Alumni Association এর পক্ষ থেকে তার প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা জানাচ্ছি । শোকসন্তপ্ত পরিবারের প্রতি রইলো গভীর সমবেদনা ।

২০২০ তে আমরা একাদশ পুনর্মিলন উৎসব করতে পারি নি । আশা করি এ বছর করা যাবে ।
