☆☆☆Admission to 12th bi-annual pass outs in colleges☆☆☆
KU to seek approval from competent bodies
The students who recently qualified class 12th bi-annual exams are likely to get admission for under-graduate courses in colleges, sources said.
They said the Kashmir University (KU) is contemplating to seek approval from all competent bodies to grant admission to these students. It will be for the first time that students, after qualifying bi-annual exams, will be enrolled in colleges for under graduate courses.
The examination for these students was conducted by JK Board of School Education (BOSE) in February after they were declared un-qualified in annual 2017 class 12th exams.
As per BOSE figures, as many as 11756 students have passed the exams and are now seeking admission in under graduate courses. The result of bi-annual exams was declared on 9th May.
Sources in the KU said the Chief Minister’s office has also asked the varsity administration to go ahead with granting admission to these students for under-graduate courses.
“The announcement to provide admission to these students was made by former education minister Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari who directed the BOSE authorities to conducted bi-annual exams of these students in early months after they were declared unqualified in annual class 12th results,” an official in KU said.
He said that the bi-annual exam was conducted early by JKBOSE to avoid waste of one year for these students.
The official said a meeting in this regard was convened by vice-chancellor with various officials and degree college principals on Friday wherein a resolution was adopted that these students should be given admission during the current academic year.
“If these students are given admission, it will be a policy decision. But a point was raised in meeting that if these students are enrolled in colleges, they should not object holding first semester exams in July citing that they didn’t attend much classes,” the official said.
The official said it was also suggested that admission will be given to these students, but first semester exam will be kept optional for them.
The official said University statutes doesn’t allow granting admission to bi-annual candidates as its exams used to be conducted in mid of the year by BOSE.
Dean academic affairs KU, Prof. Musadiq A Sahaf, said the matter is under consideration, but it has to go through higher education department and other bodies of University council.
“We held a meeting and resolution was given but we are not issuing notification yet because we have to take council bodies on board. If they agree to address its implications, we will submit the suggestions to authorities to finalize it,” he said.
