JKTJAC Holds Meeting at Doda, Raises Burning Issues of Teaching Fraternity
A meeting of Jammu & Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC), led by UT President Mr. Vinod Sharma and District President Doda Mr. Sajad Malik, was held at Doda today on 12.04.2026. The meeting was attended by executive members of JKTJAC from all zones of District Doda.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vinod Sharma highlighted various genuine and pressing issues of the teaching fraternity. He strongly emphasized that teachers should be relieved from all non-teaching assignments and allowed to focus on their core responsibility, i.e., teaching in schools, especially in view of the fact that the worthy Director has already ordered the cancellation and winding up of all such cells.
Raising the long-pending issue of transfer policy for teachers appointed under the ReT scheme, Mr. Sharma urged the Hon’ble Education Minister and Secretary, School Education, to frame a comprehensive and time-bound transfer policy, as these teachers have been serving in the same schools for more than two decades. He appreciated the constitution of a committee by the government and expressed hope for an early resolution.
Demanding the release of pending Mid-Day Meal (MDM) dues, he stated that 3–4 months’ dues for the year 2025–26 are still pending, which is a matter of serious concern. He urged the department to release the pending amount at the earliest and also requested advance funding for smooth implementation of MDM in 2026–27.
He also raised concerns regarding the proposed Census 2027 and SIR duties, stating that engaging teachers in such assignments would adversely affect academic activities. He suggested that only a minimal number of teachers be deputed so that students’ studies do not suffer.
Furthermore, he demanded the conversion of Education Volunteers into ReTs, whose files are still pending in the administrative department. While appreciating the recent release of the list for conversion of RRETs to Teachers Grade II/III by the Director School Education Jammu, he urged the authorities to consider and convert the left-out cases as well.
While addressing the gathering, District President Mr. Sajad Malik urged the Chief Education Officer Doda to issue necessary directions to DDOs for timely completion of service records of teachers to avoid inconvenience. He also stressed ensuring transparency in the rationalization process and advocated for proper rotation of teachers to make the system more effective.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Sham Sharma, Sukesh Khajuria, Khazan Singh, Sandeep Sharma, Prashant Sharma, Naseer Ahmed Batt, Ashiq Jaral, Dr. Wahid Wani, Dr. Fida Batt, Syed Sajad, Dheeraj Khujuria, Arshad Abdullah Batt (Provincial Publicity Secretary), Kifayatullah Khan, Mudassir Mughal, Irshad Ahmed (ZP Bhagwah), Riaz Ahmed (ZP Doda), Avinash Megwan (ZP Assar), Rashpal Singh (ZP Thathri), Subash Chander (Sr. VP Gundna), Rattan Singh (GS Bhagwah), Farooq Ahmed (GS Zone Gundna), Raja Aziz Ahmed, Mohd Akhter Batt (Vice President Zone Bhagwah), Lakshman Dutt, and others.

JKTJAC unequivocally condemn the move to impose TET upon teachers who have been serving the education system with unwavering dedication for the past 10 to 30 years. This decision strikes at the very dignity, experience, and professional integrity of thousands of seasoned educators.
These teachers have already proven their competence through decades of classroom teaching, mentoring generations of students, and strengthening the foundation of our education system. To question their eligibility at this stage through a fresh qualifying test is unjust, insensitive, and deeply demoralizing.
This matter goes far beyond the teachers themselves. It directly affects their families, their financial security, and their social stability. Many of these educators are sole breadwinners who have built their lives around honest service and commitment. Any uncertainty regarding their service conditions creates stress, insecurity, and emotional hardship within their households.
JKTJAC views this issue with utmost seriousness and deep concern. We cannot accept any step that undermines the self-respect of long-serving teachers. While we remain committed to quality education and high professional standards, reforms must be fair, logical, and respectful of those who have already dedicated their prime years to nation-building.
We assure the entire teaching fraternity that JKTJAC stands firmly with them. A well-considered and decisive strategy is being formulated, and we will take all necessary democratic and organizational measures to protect the rights, dignity, and future of our teachers.
