*Students of Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College, Dinanagar Shine in 51st GNDU Convocation with Gold Medal Awards*

It is a moment of immense pride and joy for Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College, Dinanagar as its meritorious students were conferred with degrees in the 51st Convocation of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar on 12 July 2026. Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab, was the chief Guest of the event and Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains was the guest of honour. The student were awarded the degrees in the presence of chief Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Karamjeet Singh and Dr. Sarla Nirankari, Principal of Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College, Dinanagar. The active participation of our students in this prestigious academic event is a testament to the college’s unwavering dedication to quality education, discipline, and overall student development. This achievement has filled the entire college fraternity with a deep sense of honor and satisfaction.

Students from various streams represented the college with excellence. Ms. Richa, M.A. English (2024), not only received her degree but was also honored with an award by GNDU for her exceptional academic performance. Adding another feather to the college’s cap, Ms. Disha of B.Sc. FD, 6th Semester, secured the 1st Position in GNDU, making the institution proud with her outstanding results. Along with them, Ms. Sipali from B.Sc. FD, 6th Semester, Ms. Dilpreet Kaur from M.A. English (2024), Ms. Gurnaj Kaur from B.Sc. (Economics), and the students of M.Sc. Computer Science were also awarded their degrees, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey.

Principal Mam expressed her heartfelt happiness and felt truly ecstatic on witnessing the remarkable success of the students. She congratulated all the degree holders and award winners for their perseverance, commitment, and discipline. She further lauded the constant guidance and support of the faculty members, whose mentorship played a vital role in shaping the future of these students. Principal Mam emphasized that such achievements not only enhance the reputation of the college but also motivate other students to aim higher and work diligently toward their goals.

The Post Graduate Department of Commerce of Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College, Dina Nagar, under the dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. Sarla Nirankari, successfully organised an informative seminar on "Income Tax Return: Filing and Documentation" on 27th June 2026.
The seminar featured Mrs. Heena Mahajan, a distinguished Chartered Accountant, as the Resource Person. She delivered an insightful and highly interactive session, providing students with practical, hands-on training in filing Income Tax Returns. Through real-life demonstrations, she familiarised the participants with the complete ITR filing process and the essential documents required, including the Annual Information Statement (AIS), Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS), and Bank Statements.
Mrs. Mahajan also elaborated on important aspects of income tax compliance such as Form 26AS, various ITR forms, deductions available under the Old Tax Regime, payment of Advance Tax, and the procedure for filing returns for salaried individuals. The students actively participated in the session and had their queries addressed comprehensively, making the programme highly engaging and beneficial.
The seminar concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Neenu Sharma, Head, Department of Commerce, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed Resource Person for sharing her valuable knowledge and expertise. As a token of appreciation, a memento was presented to CA Heena Mahajan in recognition of her significant contribution to the success of the seminar. Mr. Sidharth, from Commerce department of the college, Mr. Sandeep and Mrs Simran from CBA Infotech Gurdaspur were also present during the whole session.
The event proved to be an enriching learning experience, equipping students with practical knowledge of income tax filing and encouraging them to become financially aware and responsible citizens.
