“Honouring Freedom, Inspiring the Future”

MGM Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, Nagaland, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India on 15th August 2026 at the school assembly ground with great patriotic spirit and enthusiasm. The programme was hosted by Sir Ratan Chakraborty.

The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Father Shaiju Philip, Vice President of the school, in the presence of Principal Shri Reji Abraham, Headmaster Biswajit Paul teachers, staff and students. The National Anthem was sung by the Class 9 girls, creating a solemn and patriotic atmosphere.

The programme continued with the Divine Word and Invocation by Akatoni Huska 12 D followed by the Lighting of the Lamp and School Anthem. A warm Welcome Address was delivered by Sir Jai Kumar. The Patriots Parade by the Pre-Primary and Primary students added colour and enthusiasm to the celebration.

The programme featured several meaningful presentations, including “Echoes of Freedom” by Yash Kumar Soni of Class 6B, “Harmony Notes” by Anushree of Class 2A, and a special dance performance titled “Tribute in Motion” by the Dance Club class 7 and B. Students from Class 11 and class 12 also presented a song titled “Cadence of Melody”, celebrating the spirit and diversity of India.

The Presidential Address was delivered by Father Shaiju Philip, Vice President, inspiring the students to value the freedom earned through the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and to become responsible citizens. The programme concluded with “Closing Reflections” by Shri Reji Abraham, Principal, followed by the Vote of Thanks delivered by Miss Rosy Singh, Programme Coordinator.

The celebration was a memorable occasion that reminded everyone of the importance of freedom, unity, responsibility and patriotism. The theme, “Honouring Freedom, Inspiring the Future,” beautifully reflected the spirit of the day and encouraged the students to carry forward the values of our nation.

MGM Higher Secondary School, Dimapur Welcomes New Vice-President

MGM Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, warmly welcomed Rev. Fr. Shaiju Philip as its new Vice-President. Fr. Shaiju and his wife, Mrs. Rechel Shaiju, were accorded a traditional reception by the Principal, staff, and students of the school.

Delivering the welcome address, Principal Reji Abraham expressed confidence that under the guidance and leadership of Fr. Shaiju, the institution would continue to scale greater heights. He acknowledged that adapting to a new place and taking on new responsibilities may present challenges, but noted that Fr. Shaiju’s extensive experience as an educational administrator would enable him to overcome them successfully. He also assured the new Vice-President wholehearted support and cooperation of the school community in carrying out his responsibilities. The Principal further remarked that Fr. Shaiju and his family would cherish their stay in Nagaland, whose people are widely known for their warmth and hospitality.

In his address, Fr. Shaiju expressed his gratitude to the Principal, staff, and students for the warm welcome extended to him and his family. He emphasized that education is a shared commitment involving all stakeholders—teachers, students, and parents—and highlighted the importance of collective effort in achieving educational excellence. Encouraging everyone to embrace challenges positively, he stated that every challenge presents a new opportunity to innovate and grow. He also sought the cooperation and support of the staff and students in fulfilling his duties effectively and contributing to the continued progress of the institution.

Dimapur, June 2026: The 21st Freshers' Day of MGM Higher Secondary School was celebrated with great enthusiasm and excitement at the school premises. The programme was organized by the Class XII students in honour of the newly admitted Class XI students, aiming to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome and help them feel at home in the MGM family.

The programme was compered by Martin (Class XII A) and Moarenla Aier (Class XII D), who warmly welcomed the gathering. The event began with a Scripture reading and prayer led by Konchong (Class XII B), invoking God's blessings upon the day's proceedings. A solemn lamp-lighting ceremony marked the formal inauguration of the programme, followed by a melodious welcome song presented by the Class XII students. Tokupu Ayemi (Class XII A) then delivered the welcome address.

The Presidential Address was delivered by Fr. Giju George, Vice President of the institution. In his inspiring message, he encouraged the freshers to take their self-introductions seriously and remain committed to the goals they set for themselves. He urged both the Class XI and XII students to cultivate good character, courage, and confidence. Emphasizing the importance of academic excellence, he reminded students to learn not only from their teachers but also from their peers and juniors. He further stressed that learning should be a lifelong journey rather than a destination and encouraged students to leave behind a meaningful legacy.

One of the highlights of the event was the selection of Mr. and Miss Fresher 2026. The contestants introduced themselves, sharing their interests, talents, and aspirations. Following an interactive question-and-answer round conducted by the panel of judges, Mr. Kikkato N. Achumi of Class XI B and Miss Niliwo Zhimo of Class XI C were crowned Mr. Fresher and Miss Fresher 2026 respectively.
The programme also featured engaging ice-breaker activities that encouraged the freshers to confidently express their dreams and aspirations. A captivating dance performance by the Class XII girls added colour and vibrancy to the celebration, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience.

In his concluding remarks, Principal Reji Abraham appreciated the Class XI students for their enthusiastic participation and commended the class teachers for grooming them well. He assured the students of the school's full support in helping them achieve their aspirations. He also congratulated the Class XII students and teachers for organizing a memorable programme.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Miss Priya, who expressed gratitude to the organizing committee, teachers, and students for their valuable contributions towards the success of the event. The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
The celebration was followed by a sumptuous meal shared by all present, bringing the memorable occasion to a joyful close.
