On 24 July, DURSA submitted a memorandum to the Hon’ble Chief Minister highlighting key issues faced by research scholars. We’re happy to share that the Assam Cabinet has accepted the scholarship demand — from now on, regular PhD scholars admitted after 2021 will receive the ₹25,000 scholarship, with certain eligibility criteria.
DURSA will continue to work relentlessly for the rights, recognition, and future of research scholars at Dibrugarh University. Stay united, stay vocal.

Today, the members of Dibrugarh University Research Scholars' Association (DURSA) met with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam during his visit to our Dibrugarh University. We submitted a detailed memorandum addressing three major concerns: the recruitment of retired faculty in Model Colleges, the restriction of the ₹25,000 scholarship to only 2025 admitted scholars, and the introduction of a separate recruitment exam for Assistant Professors despite NET/SLET qualifications.
The CM responded with mixed views. He positively acknowledged the scholarship concern, assuring us that the ₹25,000 grant will be extended to all eligible research scholars without prior funding. However, on the recruitment and examination matters, the current government stance remains unchanged.
We also took the opportunity to further elaborate these concerns to the Hon’ble Education Minister, who was present during the visit.
DURSA remains committed to raising the voice of the research community and will continue its efforts to ensure fair, youth-oriented, and research-friendly academic policies in Assam.
