We are glad to post that we have ended our campaign with a happy note.
On 22nd May,2018, at around 1 pm we all headed towards our destined school, Nandeswar Chakravarty High School, Dibrugarh. As mentioned in the previous post , we really got a good response from the students, and they were much excited to see us again on the second day.
We reached there by 1:20pm and waited for a while to get over the classes. By 1:40pm we started our session in the hall with a brief description of our agenda. It was initiated by the coordinator.
After that , the principal, Mrs. Bandita Konwar gave a short welcoming speech. She made the environment a little bit easy for us with the students and the other faculties.
It was again followed by a speech by a team member. It was mainly on hygiene during periods along with a video clip based on that. Students were seen giving much attention to it though some were seen to be talking and giggling backside.
Team members approached and talked with the students. Also asked some questions based on the video clip.
A short speech on superstitious beliefs and taboos surrounding Menstruation was delivered. It included topics like man-made and unnecessary beliefs that needs to be erased from our society, at least at this age of advancement.
After that , a drama was being played by almost everyone of the team excluding 5-6 members. It tried to spread awareness about menstruation, that it's not a curse, it's a blessing. Girls can play , eat things like eggs, meat, lemon, etc. during periods and also keeping in mind about their health. Periods should never become a reason to skip classes.
It was followed by a quiz round. We observed that boys were more active than the girls in responding to the questions.
At last, we had another question-answer round, where anyone could ask any thing based on the topic. There we all got engaged along with the students. Many students were seen to be asking questions, clearing doubts. Our team members tried their level best to answer them all with proper explanations.
With this , we ended the session with a conclusion speech that was delivered by the coordinator.
We provided the badges made by our team members to both the students and the teachers. At last , we also offered them some snacks. And before leaving the school, we all stood together to get captured in a single frame.
Pictures coming soon ! ☺

The team of EKHUJ, wish everyone a Happy Menstrual Hygiene Day !
On this very day, back in 2014, a German based NGO called WASH United initiated it to celebrate and raise awareness about the importance of a good menstruation hygiene management. It tries to break certain taboos surrounding menstruation, also aims at benefiting the women and girls worldwide. The date 28th is a significant one. It has been chosen to acknowledge everyone that 28 days is the average length of the Menstrual cycle. Happy Periods! ☺

It was the first day of our campaign (12 May 2018) in Nandeswar Chakravarty High School. We reached there at 12pm and started by having a friendly interaction with the students.
We received a positive response from the Principal and the teaching staff as well. After that, we felicitated the Principal and distributed hand made badges to the teachers.Later on the Principal gave a brief insight of our campaign's motive and its relevance in the society. We had an interaction with the students and distributed them some 'questionairres' related to menstrual hygiene followed up by showing them the trailer of 'PADMAN' to which we received an active participation of the students when one of them stood up and told us about the main purpose of the movie.
After introducing ourselves we tried to show an animated video on Menstrual Hygiene namely "Mythri" . We ended today's session of our campaign by distributing candies and clicking some photographs with the students and the teaching staff ,with a word of meeting them again on 19 th of May 2018 (Saturday). It was an amazing experience with the kids and the administration of the school was supportive enough to help us conduct the session without any hindrances.
Thank You!!

One step ahead towards our destination !!
Today (10th May,2018) at Assam Medical College and Hospital(AMCH), Dibrugarh we attended the special class and workshop on Menstrual Hygiene organized by the department of Community Medicine mainly for us keeping in mind about the campaign. We reached there by 10:15am and it got started by 10:30am. We were received by the faculty members of the department. Firstly, a short introductory session was being held, addressed by the HoD, Dr.Rupali Baruah. She was a lovely lady who made us comfortable around the other faculty members in the seminar hall. Then we were given a registration form to entry our names for their own record. She introduced the members who were going to make us understand about the dos and donts and many new lessons based on Menstrual Hygiene. Dr. Rupali also spoke to us about why boys too need to know about this rarely discussed topic. And also made a point on why a good communication skill is very important in our society now a days. Then she handed over the workshop to the other members presented there. They were-
Dr.Nabanita Nirmolia, talked on Reproductive System, Male and Female Anatomy.
Dr.Sultana Jesmin Ahmed , talked on Adolescence and Reproductive Growth, Human body development, Phases of life cycle
Dr.Manjit Boruah , talked on the need for discussion on Menstrual Hygiene, promotion of Menstrual Hygiene, Target audience.
Dr.Alpana P.Rabha , talked on Reproductive Tract Infection and Sexually Transmitted Infection
Dr.Pranjal Sonowal, talked on Management of Reproductive Tract Infection and Sexually Transmitted Infection.
We were also informed that they organized workshops and counseling on the same in 10 different schools from Dibrugarh to generate the awareness among the school going children, which we think was a great initiative. The workshop was held for three hours and ended by 1:30pm. We felt lucky enough to get educated by such knowledgeable professors from AMCH, Dibrugarh and to experience all the new things out of our syllabus which we think would definitely help in our coming days.
Lastly, we would like to convey our gratitude towards our Professor In-Charge, Jennifer Shaheen Hussain Ma'am without whom we could not have imagined to reach this level.
Thank you !😊
