80th Independence Day Celebrated with Patriotic Fervour at Delhi Public School Dibrugarh
Dibrugarh, 15 August 2026: Delhi Public School Dibrugarh celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and a deep sense of national pride. The celebration brought together the school leadership, distinguished guests, teachers, students and parents to commemorate the historic occasion and reflect on the responsibilities that accompany freedom.
The programme commenced with the Guard of Honour, followed by the unfurling of the National Flag by Sri Mahavir Prasad Jain, Founder, Gyan Ved Foundation, in the presence of CA Sanjay Jain, Director Banita Jain and other distinguished guests. The ceremony was followed by the singing of Vande Mataram, setting a solemn and patriotic tone for the celebrations.
The programme was also graced by Mr D. J. Barua, a research scientist from Assam, whose work focuses on Earth Energies and Vibrations. His presentation demonstrating an energy-detecting device added an interesting dimension to the programme.
Principal Mrs Probhati Biswas, in her welcome address, highlighted the significance of Independence Day and emphasised the vital role of the youth in contributing towards the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat. The students were encouraged to embrace knowledge, innovation, integrity and responsibility as important pillars of nation-building.
The cultural segment featured an Inter-House Declamation Competition, in which students delivered inspiring speeches based on the lives and words of great freedom fighters. The declamations were complemented by musical performances, dance and enactments, creating a vibrant and meaningful presentation. Students of the Kindergarten section also delighted the audience with a special patriotic dance performance.
The musical presentations, including renditions of Saare Jahan Se Achha and Vande Mataram, further enhanced the patriotic spirit of the occasion.
The Chief Guest, PVC CA Sanjay Jain, delivered an inspiring address, reminding the students that Independence Day is not merely a celebration of the rights secured through freedom, but also a reminder of the responsibilities that every citizen must shoulder. He stressed the importance of placing the nation before self, becoming responsible citizens, and understanding that knowledge without character remains incomplete. He also spoke about recognising and harnessing positive energy and the power of purposeful thought and manifestation.
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by the Headmistress, Mrs Jumie Bhattacharya. The programme served as a meaningful reminder of India’s freedom struggle and inspired the school community to uphold the values of responsibility, unity, character and service while contributing towards a stronger and progressive nation.
