The Department of Tourism Studies, Karnatak Arts College, Karnatak University, Dharwad, proudly participated in the Kick-Off Meeting of the Erasmus+ CBHE project “Higher Education and Sustainable Growth through Religious Tourism (SacredTravels4Growth)” held at LOGOS University College, Tirana, Albania, from 15–19 December 2025.

Representing Karnatak University, Prof. J G Kivudanavar, Head of the Department and Project Head, along with Mr. Dattaniranjan, attended the meeting and engaged in discussions on project management, curriculum development, quality assurance, sustainability, and the future of religious tourism studies.

The gathering brought together consortium members from Europe, Asia, and Africa, transforming what began as institutional names on paper into real conversations, collaborations, and friendships. It was truly inspiring to meet fellow scholars and partners in person and exchange ideas for the shared vision of sustainable and culturally rooted tourism education.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Dr. Konstantinos Giakoumis, who leads the entire project and consortium, for his remarkable leadership and vision, and to Marinela Pane and the LOGOS University College team for their warm hospitality and excellent coordination throughout the event.

From roundtables and committee meetings to cultural visits and academic discussions, Tirana became the first milestone in what promises to be an exciting international journey ahead.

The Department of Tourism Studies organized an Industrial Visit for BSc HM and BTTM students to the Mega Kitchen of the The Akshaya Patra Foundation in Hubli–Dharwad.

This visit provided students with valuable exposure to large-scale institutional kitchen management, food safety protocols, automated cooking systems, and efficient supply chain operations used to prepare and distribute meals to thousands of school children daily.

The experience allowed students to understand how hospitality management principles can be applied to large-scale social initiatives, combining operational excellence with community service.

We extend our sincere gratitude to The Akshaya Patra Foundation for providing this insightful learning opportunity and for their inspiring work in addressing child nutrition through the Mid-Day Meal Programme.
