It was the age of wisdom as well as the age of foolishness, it was the winter of despair but also the spring of hope, graduating from college is a befogged amalgamation of both happiness and sadness. In these unprecedented times of COVID-19, one more batch of our seniors is graduated with the memories of all those joyful years while missing the campus we call home, at the same time. Though these unparalleled times forbade us to give our senior an unforgettable farewell, commencement is an important rite of passage, which symbolizes both an end and new beginnings.
The Department of Chemical Engineering along with the chemical engineering society (ChES) wishes the batch of 2021 very good luck for all their future endeavours.

The second episode of webinar talk under the "Alma Connect Series" was organized on Aug 29. The speakers for the session were Ms. Meenal Goyal (Batch of 2015) and Mr. Karan Shah (Batch of 2019).
Ms. Goyal presented on "Emerging trends in Oil Refining and Petrochemicals industry". She majorly focused on the advancements in technologies that are needed to be implemented in companies like the IOCL to cope up with the changing trends of the oil and gas sector.
Mr. Shah addressed the students about "Transition from Engineering to Management". He also talked about the different work domains that one can choose during his post graduation in management.
The session was very well received by the faculties and students of the department which made it a successful event.

Chemical Engineering Society, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, is delighted to share that the first webinar talk under "Alma Connect Series" was organized today. The session was addressed on getting admissions into top universities around the globe for further studies after graduation and the guidance and motivation required for the same. The webinar saw an overwhelming participation from the students and faculty members of the department.
We sincerely thank our alumni, Mr. Ankit Mathanker and Mr. Sudheesh Kumar Ethirajan, for their wonderful presentation and sharing their thoughts on the changes required for the betterment of the students and the department. Also, a special thanks to Prof. A K Samanta for taking this initiative and introducing a much needed series of talks and discussions with the alumni excelling in their respective career paths.
The second webinar of the series will be presented very soon. We hope to see the same level of enthusiasm and participation from the students.

The final year students of the Department of Chemical Engineering organized a webinar, introducing the core of Chemical Engineering to the freshers stepping into the curriculum. The webinar was exclusively organised for second year students of the department.
Students were guided on what Chemical Engineering truly is, what all post grad windows it opens, core opportunities in the field of Chemical Engineering and how they can utilise their time better at home for upskilling themselves. All the second yearites were full of enthusiasm throughout the session and cleared their doubts at the end. Willingness to learn and to share experiences at the same time made this webinar a successful one.
Chemical Engineering Society, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, is very proud to share that one of its faculty members, Prof. Aditya Kumar along with his team has developed an anti-microbial coating using nanotechnology which can kill microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi on coming in contact of it.
This research can be very useful by replacing PPE kits with regular clothing coated with nanoparticles and thus making it convenient for doctors and nurses to fight against contagious diseases such as corona virus. More experiments are still going on in its further development.
The department of Chemical Engineering and its students are overwhelmed with pride and congratulate Prof. Aditya Kumar for this achievement.

Amid of this least anticipated COVID 19 pandemic and all the confusion regarding the updated academic schedule, some very precious memories were stolen, which remains with every student for the rest of his life. Those memories are few last moments of joy and sorrow spent with batchmates and juniors which is inseparable to this whole journey of college life. Bidding farewell without cherishing those priceless moments is extremely painful. But given the limitations, one can only imagine the extent of disappointment being faced by the Batch of 2020.
The Department of Chemical Engineering along with the Chemical Engineering Society (ChES) wishes good luck to the Batch of 2020 for a bright future ahead. The Department is overwhelmed to have such a great batch and will always be grateful for their contributions.

Department of Chemical Engineering presents Chem-e-car, a visionary and futuristic concept of running a car and the world towards sustainability.
With the objective to explore all the realms of possibilities towards a greener and safer planet where we can power a car by chemical reaction.
Join us as we explore various realms of possibilities and drive the planet forward using Chemical Energy.
Dates : 26th October - 28th October

For all the ‘chemies’ out there...Here is something interesting. Mechanical energy can
obviously run a car but can chemical energy run it? The main objective is to power a car
by chemical reaction and must be stopped by a quantifiable change and direct control of
the concentration of a chemical species.
To know more, join us at the workshop to know more about the event and the future of endless possibilities with Chemical energy, tomorrow at 18:30 hours at the Department of Chemical Engineering, 4th floor, Academic Complex.
See you!!
