We were delighted to welcome the students and faculty members of *Swarup Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Ratanpur Tundi, Dhanbad* to the NVCTI (Naresh Vashist Centre for Tinkering and Innovation), IIT(ISM) Dhanbad on 20th May 2026.

During the visit, the students explored the advanced innovation ecosystem at the NVCTI , where they were introduced to emerging technologies, research-driven projects, prototyping facilities, robotics, and hands-on learning opportunities designed to nurture future innovators and problem solvers.

The session and facility tour were successfully coordinated by Mr. Ramesh Prasad (Technical Officer, NVCTI) along with the dedicated NVCTI Team, who guided the students through various demonstrations and interactive discussions, making the experience both educational and inspiring.

Such visits play a vital role in encouraging curiosity, creativity, scientific thinking, and innovation among school students, helping them gain exposure to real-world research and technological advancements at an early stage.

We sincerely look forward to inspiring many more young innovators in the future.

Development of Reservoir-on-a-Chip: an Electrically Assisted Platform handling polymeric fluids for enhanced oil recovery application

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad takes immense pride in sharing that Dr. Abhishek Kumar, an alumnus of the Department of Applied Geophysics, who recently completed his Joint PhD with IIT (ISM) Dhanbad as the home institute and Curtin University, Australia, as the host institute, has joined the prestigious French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), France, as a Postdoctoral Researcher.

At CNRS’s EDYTEM Laboratory, Dr. Kumar will work with globally acclaimed geophysicist Dr. André Revil on cutting-edge research focused on developing deep learning-based 4D inversion algorithms for induced polarization data for subsurface characterization. This impactful research aims to support identification of suitable underground nuclear waste repository sites and monitoring the integrity of underground disposal facilities.

His remarkable achievement reflects the strong academic and research foundation nurtured at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and highlights the growing global footprint of our scholars in advanced scientific research.

We congratulate Dr. Abhishek Kumar on this significant milestone and wish him continued success as he contributes to addressing critical global challenges through science and innovation.
