He may be mute but his achievements are telling stories. Except that there is no one to listen to his stories and his cries. He is not shocked to see the ‘deaf system’; he knows what being deaf means too. He is Virender Singh also known as “Goonga Pehelwan”.

What he gave to India :

● India’s first gold medal at the 2005 Deaflympics in Melbourne
● 5 medals for India at the five international tournaments in which he has participated
● Gold at the 2013 Deaflympics in Bulgaria.

What India gave him:

● He had never seen any awards or monetary compensation come his way.
● To make ends meet, he works as a clerk with the Haryana Power Corporation.
● He even had to pay for himself to participate in the Deaflympics.

Such an ignorant attitude towards our athletes by our Government is really not acceptable. An athlete who fought his weakness, who fought it hard to achieve so many medals internationally but our country is deaf to this "Deaf Wrestler”. He proved his mettle time and again and made our country proud in different internal events. It shatters such achievers and kills many dreams the sportsman of this country are seeing.

This time you can do something for him so that he can again participate in 2016 in Rio. Please do help him and promote him.

when we were in school...we didn't worry for anything...we were the king of our world..we use to rule....we had our own world...we were the luckiest to have all those attention....but now the situation is this that their is no king...no ruling...neither those world...nor those attention...
