To mark the historic occasion of the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram, Sopakha Secondary School organized a special mass singing programme on 7th November 2025. The event aimed to instill a sense of patriotism among students and to honor the rich legacy of our national song, which continues to inspire unity and devotion to the motherland. The event was also joined by SSB Officer Mr. Subash Chandra and his staff from the Jorbotey SSB Camp, whose presence added great inspiration to the gathering.

School Incharge highlighted the value, importance, and historical significance of Vande Mataram, written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875. He emphasized how the song became a powerful symbol during India’s freedom struggle and continues to remind us of our duty towards the nation. The highlight of the event was the mass singing of Vande Mataram by students, teachers, and guests, which filled the atmosphere with patriotic fervor. The event successfully reinforced the spirit of nationalism and reminded everyone of the enduring message of Vande Mataram- to love and serve our motherland selflessly.

The Chief Education Officer Mr. P.G. Bhutia and Deputy Director Education Mr. Dinesh Pradhan from the District Education Office, Gyalshing, accompanied by the Assistant Director (Education) Mr. Deepak S***a from Dentam Sub-Division, visited Government Secondary School, Sopakha, today.
During the visit, the officials observed classroom activities and interacted with students of various grades. The Chief Education Officer (CEO) encouraged both teaching and non-teaching staff to work collaboratively for the holistic development of students. He also emphasized the importance of striving towards achieving a 100% pass result in the forthcoming Class X CBSE Examination under HCM mentorship program.

The CEO took note of several genuine requirements of the school and assured necessary support. He also congratulated the Sopakha School family on the occasion of the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim adopting the school, appreciating the collective efforts of the staff and students. 🙏

Sopakha Secondary School joyfully celebrated Teacher’s Day 2025. The event, held on the school premises, was a vibrant tribute to the dedication and hard work of the teaching staff.
The program began with students presenting beautiful cultural performances that reflected their appreciation and respect for teachers. These performances set a lively and respectful tone for the celebration. Following the cultural items, heartfelt speeches were delivered by students, the Headmaster, the SMC Chairman, and a representative teacher. Each speaker highlighted the vital role teachers play in shaping the future of students and the community.
Students presented token of gratitude to their teachers, expressing their appreciation for their guidance and support.

The celebration was a collaborative effort between the students and the School Management Committee (SMC), who worked together to ensure the program's success. Their teamwork and dedication made the event memorable and meaningful.

On the eve of the 34th Nepali Bhasha Manyata Diwas 2025, a District-Level Literary Program was organized at Gyalshing, West Sikkim celebrating the richness of Nepali language and literature.

One of the highlights of the event was the Story Writing Competition, in which Mr. Vinod Chettri, Graduate Teacher of Sopakha Secondary School, showcased his literary talent. Mr. Chettri, who is recognized as an emerging poet and writer in the field of Nepali literature, secured the Second Position in the competition, receiving appreciation from the jury and audience alike. His achievement reflects not only his individual literary potential but also the growing literary culture within the district.

A grand literary program was organized by Govt. Senior Secondary School, Uttarey, West Sikkim on the eve of the 34th Nepali Bhasha Manyata Diwas. A renowned literary icon on Nepali literature cm former Joint Director, Education Department, Mr. Tshering Panzo Sherpa, graced the program as the Chief Guest of the day. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various schools in the region, aiming to promote and celebrate the richness of the Nepali language and literature.
A variety of literary competitions were conducted at both Junior High School (JHS) and Secondary levels, including poem recitation, essay writing, painting, and extempore speech.
Students from our school actively participated in the event and achieved commendable success in various categories. Their outstanding performances are as follows:
• Ms. Salina Rai secured 1st position in Poem Recitation (JHS Level).
• Ms. Ishneha Rai secured 1st position in the Essay Writing Competition (JHS Level).
• Mr. Sujal Rai secured 1st position in the Painting Competition (JHS Level).
• Ms. Sheena Rai secured 3rd position in the Essay Writing Competition (Secondary Level).
• Mr. Sangam Gurung secured 3rd position in the Extempore Competition (Secondary Level).
• Ms. Manju Rai participated in reading competition.
The event concluded successfully with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Students of Sopakha Secondary School actively participated in a literary competition held at Dentam Senior Secondary School in the eve of 211th Bhanu Jayanti 2025. The event was organized by Mirmirey Sahitya Manch Maneybung Dentam and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various schools under the inter-school category, as well as individuals under the open literary competition category.
We are proud to share that Ms. Shena Rai, Class X of Sopakha Secondary School, secured second position in the short story writing competition, showcasing her creative talent & literary skills.

Similarly, Mr. Vinod Chettri, Graduate Teacher (Nepali) of Sopakha Secondary School, participated in the district-level poem writing competition held at Gyalshing and brought laurels to the school by securing the first position.

Mr. Sandeep Limboo officially joined his duty as the Headmaster of Government Secondary School, Sopakha, West Sikkim today. He was given a warm and cordial welcome by the teaching and non-teaching staff, School Management Committee (SMC) members, panchayats from Sopakha GPK and students of the school.

The overall charge of the school was formally handed over to him by Mr. A.H. Limboo (GTA). On this occasion, Mr. Sandeep Limboo was congratulated by all present for his well-deserved promotion to the post of Headmaster. A short introductory staff meeting was held where all staff members introduced themselves. The meeting also included initial discussions on academic subjects and the future direction of the school's academic planning.

The atmosphere was positive and full of enthusiasm as the school community looked forward to working under the leadership of the new Headmaster.

During his visit, Mr. S***a interacted with the students, encouraging them to strive for excellence in their academic pursuits. He emphasized the importance of focused and sincere study habits, urging the students to prepare diligently for their examinations.

BBSC 2025 : Day 07 (Final Day)-

The seventh and final day of the Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp 2025 concluded successfully at Sopakha Secondary School with a vibrant and engaging program. The day was marked by enthusiastic participation and celebration of the students' learning and achievements throughout the week. Students actively participated in a language and culture-themed quiz competition, showcasing the knowledge and insights they gained over the course of the camp. They listened motivational speeches from the teachers that motivated them to continue learning and embracing the richness of Bharatiya languages and traditions. They deepened their understanding of the diverse Indian linguistic heritage, cultural values, and community bonding through the camp activities. All participants were awarded certificates, and winners of various activities were felicitated with prizes, encouraging their continued involvement in language and cultural pursuits.

BBSC 2025: Day 06-

The sixth day of the Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp 2025 was successfully concluded at Sopakha Secondary School. Students gained knowledge of history and geography through interactive sessions.
Students learned the names of mountains, rivers, and places, enhancing their understanding of geography. They gained knowledge about historical monuments, developing an appreciation for cultural heritage. Concerned teachers played a crucial role in guiding and supporting students throughout the activities.
Today's program provided students with a deeper understanding of history and geography, fostering their curiosity and appreciation for the subject.
