Cerebrate - MSIT's Debating Society

After auditioning over 100 debating enthusiasts across MSI and MSIT, for almost 7-8 hours in two rounds, the Cabinet has decided on 23 names that have made it to Cerebrate. Yay!

It was great to see the enthusiasm for debating as an activity, within a space like this and we appreciate your efforts for that.
Congratulations to the ones who've made it, and for the rest, it's still not the end. Attend the Open Sessions, about which you'll be notified here, on the WhatsApp group, and on the Instagram page too.

With this, we welcome all the new members of Cerebrate. We hope to see a year filled with learning, debating and most importantly, fun with you all!

As the debating season is coming to an end, it gives us immense pleasure to share our achievements of this semester.

• Our fresher team consisting of Aniket Vashishtha, Shrey Tripathi and Tushar Sabhani went on to register a 3-2 win loss and narrowly miss out on breaking at Gambit Fresher PD. In the same tournament, Prateek Sharma went on to bag the 3rd best adjudicator position.

• At Jindal Debate, the team consisting of Siddharth Parashar, Khyati Batra and Prateek Sharma nearly missed out on breaking but our fresher Sarthak Yadav broke as an adjudicator at his very first senior PD. We also saw commendable performances by our other fresher adjudicators - Preity and Anshuman.

As the season end approaches, we shall look to end it on a higher note but nonetheless, the semester has turned out to be great for Cerebrate.

We, at Cerebrate, are very proud to announce that Aniket Vashishtha participated as the Delegate of China in UNSC at MSCMUN and was declared the Best Delegate.

We are very proud of the performance of our Freshers and look forward to their active participation in all formats of debating.

This was a crazy process with so many people who were eager to learn and we appreciate the effort of each and every one.

Congratulations to the ones who've made it, and for the rest, it's still not the end. Cerebrate, throughout the academic year, is going to organise Open Sessions and Debates, where you can come and get better. If we see the zeal in you and the improvement ofcourse, you might get an entry into Cerebrate!

After hours of debating and discussions, Round 01 of the Auditions of Cerebrate ended yesterday. With a huge number of students who turned up, listening to their arguments and watching the enthusiasm they had for activities, it was difficult to shortlist a few.

But here we are, finally, with the SLOT ALLOCATION for the SECOND AND FINAL ROUND OF AUDITIONS.

In Round 02, we have CONVENTIONAL FORMAT OF DEBATING, wherein each participant would be given 3(2+1) minutes for speaking, followed by 1 minute for interrogation.

Prepare well and amaze us with your arguments!

As notified, Round 01 of AUDITIONS were postponed.
Finally we are going to conduct them tomorrow.

The format, as announced, would be GROUP DISCUSSION.

CEREBRATE, THE DEBATING SOCIETY OF MSIT is all set for its ORIENTATION SESSION.

If you've got this urge to make your college life more productive than just knocking your heads in the books and bring to your day-to-day life, reason, logic and effective oratory and speaking skills, then CEREBRATE IS YOUR PLACE TO BE.

From what in general debating is about to an elaborate discussion on how its done and the debating formats, we've got a bunch of real good stuff for you in this session.

No prior experience in debating required. Just you and your zeal for this activity!

So another year passed by. A year full of ups and downs. A year where Cerebrate emerged as a proper society and not just two people attending tournaments. For the first time MSIT was exposed to concept of a PD, first time we had a bunch of people who wanted to debate.

This year witnessed some tremendous leaps. From 1 adje break in entire MSIT till last year to multiple debating breaks and finally 2 A levels, the journey has been long. While Tanmay kept the flag high with 15+ wins at the Conventional front with , Joyendra restricted himself to selected PDs.. But the actual growth of Cerebrate lies in its it's new members' achieving. Prateek Sharma and Siddharth Parashar did extremely well on the PD front given the fact all odds weren't on their side. Jatin Sharma and Rohit Aggarwal bagged a couple of podium finishes in conventional debate.
Although we feel immense pride to establish debating as a serious and recognized activity in a college where nobody gives 2 hoots about anything apart from academics, there is this innate desire to do more, to breed a different, better class of debaters, who can rise above the lowly biases that pervade and the emerge as debaters who debate for the love of it not for the heck of it.
We hope that the new cabinet can take this vision forward to establish the prominence of Cerebrate.
So sticking to our motto of "It's time to change" which we took up exactly one year ago, announcing the office bearers for 2018-19

We, at Cerebrate, are extremely proud to have a second A level adjudicator in MSIT. Prateek who broke at Wax Eloquent 2018, Gargi College has made us proud by breaking as an adjudicator and adjing till the semi finals.
With this Cerebrate closes it's season on a high note. The new office to be announced soon, stay tuned.

Congratulations to Jatin Sharma for bagging 3rd best speaker at BVMIR's recently conducted Vagmita Conventional Debate.
