CCGD Summary: Does the freedom to express include the freedom to offend?
As a starting point, we compared offence that can be taken through words to actual harm caused by physical acts, the latter being illegal. The difference between harm caused by words and that caused by physical acts is that the latter can be quantified. However, upon further discussion, it emerged that you could measure the harm caused by words despite the apparent ambiguity and the abstract nature of such harm. [ 367 more words ]
