The IQAC, NIEPA organized a workshop on “AI Integration in Higher Education” for faculty members and “AI in Administration” for non-teaching staff on 13 April 2026. The session was chaired by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shashikala Wanjari. The resource person, Prof. K. Srinivas, Head, ICT & Project Management Unit, delivered an interactive session on the application of AI in higher education. The programme was coordinated by the IQAC.

Empowering KGBV Wardens in Uttar Pradesh

Led by NIEPA in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Samagra Shiksha, Uttar Pradesh, the initiative focuses on capacity building, covering 154 wardens with the support of 9 master trainers at multiple centres. The third phase of 5-day (23rd to 27th March 2026) residential training programme for Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) wardens was inaugurated at RIRD Ayodhya under the leadership of Prof. Shashikala Wanjari, Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Santwana G. Mishra, Project Director. Prof. Shashikala Wanjari motivated the participants with her encouraging address and highlighted the pivotal role of wardens in shaping a safe, inclusive, and nurturing residential environment for girls. Dr. Santwana G. Mishra expressed her gratitude to the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) for its support and emphasized that the training programme would provide valuable learning experiences while enhancing the participants’ knowledge and skills.

Officials from the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA)—including Dr. Kumar Gaurav, Dr. Sandhya Vaid, Dr. Rashmi Chauhan, Dr. Irma Kerketta, and Dr. Ankita—extended their encouragement to the participants through their virtual presence.The programme was further supported by the Uttar Pradesh Samagra Shiksha Nodal Officer, Dr. Mukesh Kumar Singh, along with Ms. Sarita, who joined online and motivated the wardens and Master Trainers from their respective states across the three centres in Ghaziabad, Ayodhya, and Pratapgarh.

The programme reinforces efforts towards safe, inclusive, and empowering environments for girls’ education.

The three-day National Workshop on “Leveraging Digital Technology for Enhancing the Competencies of Teacher Educators in the North East Region of India” is being organised by Department of School and Non-Formal Education, National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi in collaboration with North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya from 18–20 March 2026 under the North East Outreach Programme at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU). Led by Programme Director Dr. Amit Gautam and supported by the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Shashikala Wanjari.

With a strong focus on disruptive digital technologies, technology-enabled pedagogy, and hands-on engagement, the workshop is designed as a capacity-building initiative to strengthen the digital competencies of teachers, teacher educators, and educational administrators in order to harness the region’s immense potential to leverage digital platforms for overcoming geographical barriers and promoting collaborative, inclusive learning.

The inaugural session was marked by the presence of eminent dignitaries and academic leaders. The programme began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome address by Prof. Brinda Bazeley Kharbihrymbai, Programme Coordinator, NEHU. Prof. S. S. Umdor, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, NEHU, delivered the opening remarks, emphasising the importance of digital transformation in strengthening teacher education in the region.

Dr Amit Gautam, Programme Director, Director MMTTC, NIEPA presented the objectives, design, and conceptual framework of the workshop, outlining its focus on fostering innovative, reflective, and future-ready teaching practices aligned with the broader goals of equitable and quality education.

The Chief Guest, Shri Vijay Kumar Mantri, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Education Department, Government of Meghalaya, highlighted the role of digital initiatives in improving access and quality of education.

National Centre for School Leadership- NIEPA organized its Annual National Advisory Group Meeting at Niepa_Official on 18.03.2026. Ms Archana Sharma Awasthi, Honourable Additional Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, GoI was the Special Guest representing Ministry of Education, GoI. The meeting was chaired by Prof Shashikala Wanjari, Honourable Vice Chancellor, Niepa_Official and Head, National Centre for School Leadership- NIEPA. The meeting was held to review the progress made by National Centre for School Leadership in F.Y. 2025-2026 and plan for the next financial year.
The meeting was attended by External members, Ms. Chandana Mandal, Additional Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Shri Somvir Poonia, Deputy Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Dr Biswajit Saha, Director (Skill Education & Training) CBSE and Shri Bharatbhai Dhokai, Director, Kutch Welfare Association, Gandhidham, Gujarat. Internal members included Shri Surya Narayan Mishra, Registrar, NIEPA, Shri Ankit Verma, Finance Officer (I/c) NIEPA and Dr Nidhi Sadana Sabharwal, National Fellow, NIEPA. Ncsl Niepa was represented by Dr Santwana Mishra, Associate Professor, Niepa_Official and Incharge of the Office of NCSL, Dr Charu Smita Malik, Assistant Professor, Dr Shadma Absar, Assistant Professor, Dr Tripti Singh, Assistant Professor, Dr Gyaneshwari Longjam, Assistant Professor, Dr Pankaj Singh, Assistant Professor, Dr Yogesh Pahariya, Assistant Professorand the entire staff. Select also joined virtually. The meeting detailed the programmatic and other activities undertaken by Ncsl Niepa in F.Y. 2025-2026 and presented the Annual Work Plan and Budget for the upcoming F.Y. 2026-2027. The meeting generated valuable inputs from experts for improvising future course of action.

Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shashikala Wanjari addressed the participants during the inaugural session of the Ten-Day Research Methodology Course held at HRDC, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
The programme is jointly organized by JNU, Delhi and Institute for Educational and Developmental Studies (IEDS), Noida, sponsored by ICSSR, New Delhi.
In her address, she highlighted the importance of quality research and academic dedication in higher education.
The inaugural session was held on 18 March 2026 in the presence of academicians and research scholars from different institutions.
The programme aims to strengthen research skills through lectures, discussions, and academic interaction.

Empowering KGBV Wardens in Uttar Pradesh
The 5-day residential training programme for Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) wardens was inaugurated on 9th March 2026 under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Shashikala Wanjari and Project Director Dr. Santwana G. Mishra, marking a significant step towards strengthening residential schooling for girls.

Led by NIEPA in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Samagra Shiksha, Uttar Pradesh, the initiative focuses on capacity building, covering 562 wardens with the support of 29 master trainers across four phases at multiple centres. Phase I (9–13 March 2026) was successfully conducted at Ghaziabad, Pratapgarh, and Ayodhya, while Phase II (16–20 March 2026) is currently underway.

NIEPA officials Dr. Kumar Gaurav, Dr. Sandhya Vaid, Dr. Rashmi Chauhan, Dr. Irma Kerketta, and Dr. Ankita and Ministry representatives visited the Ghaziabad centre during both phases ensuring effective monitoring, and quality implementation of the training program.

The Southern Regional Programme on Implementation of National and State Educational Policies for District and Block Level Officers was held in Hyderabad, Telangana on March 11-12, 2026 in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha, Telangana. During opening session on 12 March 2026, Shri Anugula N. Reddy highlighted the critical role of district/block level officers in providing leadership, guidance field functionaries in implementing the policies and in providing feedback on practicalities of implementing, and issues likely to emerging during implementation. Thus district/block officers are a critical link in implementing of polices and in providing feedback back on implementation. Dr. Rasmita Das Swain, NIEPA and Ms. Kalyani from Samagra Shiksha also graced the opening session. Dr. P. Shankar and Dr. Amit Gautam from NIEPA are the resource persons for the programme. In all, 35 district/block officers from 4 southern states are participating in the programme.
