ये रात थी उस शहर की जहां अंधेरा अभी आया था,
ये बात थी उस शहर की जहां अल्फाज़ अभी आए थे,
ये गूंज थी उस शहर की जहां गुल अभी आया था,
ये ख़ामोशी थी उस शहर की, जिसने चुप्पी अभी सीखी थी।




जगाया था एक शहर इस उम्मीद में,
कि आंखें मूंदना फ़िर से अब नहीं होगा आसान।
उस शहर की जगमगाहट इन बंद पलकों में भी जलती रहे, इस उम्मीद में अंकुर उन सबका तहे दिल से शुक्रिया करता है, जो इस शहर का हिस्सा बने, और जिनके बिना इस शहर की धड़कन एक एहसास से एक आवाज़ में तब्दील हो सकी।
लड़ाई है अब खुद से,
खुद को बदलने कि!




यह थी अंकुर: श्री गुरु तेग़ बहादुर खालसा कॉलेज की नाट्य संस्था की नौंवी सालाना पेशकश "जब शहर हमारा सोता है"।

‘शहर…’ ढाई अक्षर का लफ़्ज़ इश्क़ के बारे में था। ‘शहर…’ कबूतरों के बारे में था। ‘शहर…’ गुलाब की सुगंध, बगुले की फड़फड़ाहट, कोयल की चहचहाहट और मोर के नाच के बारे में था।

जंग के बीच फसे इस शोर-गुल भरे माहौल में भी जो शहर सो रहा है, 'इश्क' के बूते उस शहर को जगाने की कोशिश का नाम है 'जब शहर हमारा सोता है'।
