Fashion Presentation - ‘Reflections’ --- South Delhi Polytechnic for Women, Lajpat Nagar, has been imparting Vocational Training in 18 disciplines, for more than half-a-century. Fashion Design & Merchandising is now perhaps the most popular department, leading to employment, placement and empowering women in large numbers. We are also proud to mention that we were the first to commence this sector as an Academic Programme ~ in the capital city of India!
Today, the College felt happy to unveil yet again, the much awaited Annual Fashion Presentation. This year it was titled as ‘Reflections’. Thirty six Final Year students presented their designed and constructed creativity, as a part of their Curriculum. Therefore 108 students in 18 sequences, walked the Ramp. Each Designer Student took inspiration from various facets of life, incorporating it into contemporary trends and fashions.

'FASHION PRESENTATION: 2014' The Golden Walk ’
South Delhi Polytechnic for Women has been imparting Vocational Education for the past five decades. It is the oldest and largest of its kind in India . At present, students are undergoing training in 22 different disciplines.
The department of FASHION DESIGN & MERCHANDISING is more than 40 years old. We feel proud to represent ourselves as pioneers, in the field of Fashion Design. That is, we were the first to teach it in the capital city of India..
It is our endeavour at the College, to provide a professional platform to Final-Year Students, to display their talent and design skills on the Ramp. The annual Fashion Presentation is not only accredited as part of the Curriculum, but also gives them a learning experience as a 'Designer'.
This year, our largest-ever(!) batch of final-year Fashion Design Students have organised a Presentation titled, ‘THE GOLDEN WALK’. The Student Designers have designed and crafted three garments each, with one unique golden embellishment to complement their line. ~~….~~~……~.........SEQUENCES: …~~~~….~~~……~~~~
1. BOUNTIFUL BUCKLES – HINA / SAVITA KUMARI-This demi-couture collection is adorned with reworked gold-of buckles. This design feature on the short skirts and bodices, has been effectively used for a stylish finish.
2. TAILORED TOUCHES – ISHIKA KULSHRESHTHA / TULIKA--A sporty collection of shorts and jumpsuits, that accentuate pockets and collars. The dresses in soft textured denims, are made for an active chic functional use.
3. BEJEWELLED BROOCHES – SUKHMANI KAUR / VARSHA CHAUHAN –-The Victorian style-line incorporates layered garments, infused with lot of sheer fabric with sparkling brooches that transform the collection into a dream couture.
4. TRICKY THREADS – MANISHA SHARMA / NIKITA AGARWAL-A vibrant collection of one-piece dresses embellished with gold threads, that festoon from the garment seams and make for a festive look.
5. BOHEMIAN BEADS – SARAVPREET KAUR / SMRITI MALIK-The natural earthy prints with bohemian beads, flaunt the feminine figure for an avant-garde look.
6. ZESTY ZIPS – CHESHTA GROVER / SURUCHI SHARMA-A black and white wardrobe tuned for comfort-fit and replete with zips, endow this trendy line with a carefree arty illusion of height.
7. BOLD BELTS – BEAUTY KUMARI / MANSI SHARMA-The line showcases western attire, inspired by calligraphy print and enhanced with sturdy decorative belts. The designers has experimented with belts to accentuate slender waists.
8. BRACED BORDERS – PRERNA SOOD / JASWEER / VANDANA NAUTIYAL-The necklines and hemlines in Gold borders have been used with textured velvets, satins and nets may entice some woman to re- explore her formal attire.
9. GLEAM ’n GLITTER – SARABJIT KAUR / SWETA CHAHAR-A gorgeous collection in cream and beige, creates a resplendent shine all over. The glitters of gold hand-sewn meticulously on sheer fabrics, induce a ‘special moment’ character.
10. BLOOMING BRAIDS – KAVYASHREE / PREETI GUPTA -The loose kaftans in varied styles are made in satins that drape well. The line is enhanced for a dressy and feminine look with braids, that highlight necks and back.
11. BRANDISHED BUTTONS – KIRAN FULARA / KRITIKA THAKUR-An executive line, showcasing smart tailored fit attire for the chic office goer. The buoyant Blues fastened with gold-edged buttons, distinguish the collection to rare calibre.
12. TRENDY TASSELS – ISHA BHARGAVA / SEBI BATRA-The traditional anarkalis in the ensemble have ancient culture co-exist with contemporary ideas. The embellishments used are versatile hangings that trail and hem the garment.
13. SENSUOUS SEQUINS – GEETIKA YADAV / KRITI SANAN-A dazzling sequence with gold shimmer that emboss the right proportion of drama and style. The short shiny dresses are garnered to pamper a luxurious clientele.
14. TEMPTING TRADITIONS – HIMANSHI ARORA / PRIYANKA SRIVASTAVA-A revivalist collection of royal Mughal style shararas and ghararas. The flouncy lengthy silhouettes look graceful with kundan embroidery and are certain to, evoke the glory of a rich era.
15. SHINING SHIMMER – BHAWNA TANWAR / NISHA DHAMEER-A neon colour ensemble, hand crafted with crystals for shimmer and hand painted in contemporary cuts for a distinctive Indo-Western line.
16. MELANGE MASTERY – ARTI MALIK / ANURADHA-The designer has invested in assemblage of fabric pieces for a creative patterned base for clothes. This innovative fabrication is geared for cost-effective garbs for recession.
17. CLASSIC COINS – MANISHA NEGI / SHAILJA SOLANKI-The timeless Indian embroideries have been executed into bifurcated crazy lowers. The garment ensemble is further ‘jazzed’ by selective usage of classy coin elements.
18. ELOQUENT EDGES – HARSHA CHHAPARIA / SHWETA SINGH-The presentation open with unusual styles and details. They are all edged and hemmed in with neat pipings, for composite captivation.
19. PAINTED PERSONNAE – PREETI SHARMA / VAINE JAIN-The daring costumes, are operatic with smoky black hues and bold hand-painted daubs. These create a sense of contemporary drama.
20. SENSATIONAL STUDS – RITIKA KANSAL / SHALINI CHUGH-The nifty dresses adorned with studs, to give a high-end look. The designers have played with metal, making the black attire stand out.
21. FOLD FANTASY – ANJALI SRIVASTAV / KHUSHBOO KAUSHIK-The showy satin gowns in beige and red combination, are made fanciful with feminine and frilly design details.
22. ROYAL REVIVAL – NEHA VEDI / ANKITA VIG-The designers have bridged the gap between traditionalism and modernity with aplomb. An exciting choice of lavish lehengas, for those prepared to be extravagant.
23. CHARISMATIC CHAINS SURBHI JAIN / BHARTI MONGA-Last but not the least , the charismatic collection of Corsets is enhanced with gold metal thread or dabka work. The arresting detail of fancy chains, are also eye catching.
