HISTORY CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME – DAY 3

Subject: Making History Teaching Engaging, Interesting and Joyful
The third day of the History Capacity Building Programme was conducted on 24th September 2026 under the guidance of the respected Principal Ma’am, Ms. Lavina Arora. The programme aimed to enrich the teaching-learning process through innovative pedagogies, hands-on activities and experiential learning.
FELICITATION OF THE MASTER TRAINERS
Before the commencement of the first session, the esteemed Master Trainers were felicitated by the respected Principal Ma’am, Ms. Lavina Arora, as a gesture of appreciation for their valuable contribution and dedicated efforts towards enriching History teaching and professional development of teachers.
The Master Trainers felicitated on the occasion were Ms. G. Lakshmi Negi, Ms. Sangeeta Sardana and Ms. Jaya Sharma. The Principal Ma’am appreciated their commitment, expertise and initiative in making the Capacity Building Programme meaningful, interactive and enriching for all the participants.
FIRST SESSION: MAKING HISTORY CLASSROOMS MORE ENGAGING
The first session was conducted by the Master Trainers, Ms. G. Lakshmi Negi, Ms. Sangeeta Sardana and Ms. Jaya Sharma.
The session focused on incorporating creative and interactive activities into History teaching to make the subject more engaging, interesting and joyful for students. The Master Trainers discussed the importance of activity-based learning and the use of innovative teaching strategies to develop curiosity, critical thinking and active participation among learners.
Hands-on Activity:
The participants were provided with History chapters from Classes XI and XII. They were divided into groups and asked to frame suitable classroom activities based on the given chapters. They also prepared creative posters using AI tools to present historical concepts in an attractive and meaningful manner.
The activity encouraged teachers to explore technology-integrated pedagogy and develop innovative resources that can be effectively used in the History classroom.
SECOND SESSION: EDUCATIONAL EXCURSION TO NATIONAL MUSEUM
The second session comprised an educational excursion to the National Museum, New Delhi.
The visit provided an opportunity for the teachers to explore historical artefacts, sculptures, coins, manuscripts and other valuable objects related to India's rich cultural heritage. The museum visit aimed to strengthen experiential learning and help teachers connect textbook concepts with authentic historical sources.
The excursion also highlighted the importance of museums as valuable educational resources for making History teaching more visual, meaningful and engaging.
CONCLUSION
The third day of the History Capacity Building Programme was an enriching and productive experience for all the participants. The felicitation of the Master Trainers, hands-on activities and museum visit encouraged teachers to adopt innovative, technology-integrated and experiential approaches to History teaching.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment to making History classrooms more interactive, creative and joyful for students.
