To understand your anxiety means to investigate your emotions deeper. This can be pretty tough and uncomfortable for some people. To help ease the process and get you started... here are a few 'key' things you need to ask yourself honest questions about how you feel.
Once you have these key behaviours in place, maintain an attitude of kindness and honesty towards yourself as you ask:
What do I not want to accept?
What feelings does this bring up?
What conclusions do I automatically make? And do I really agree?
What is the part of this that hurts me most?
What is the most difficult thing I believe about myself. And is that really true?
Do I feel any part of this in my body? Can I pay attention to that just for a moment?
What question do I really wish someone would ask me right now, but no one ever does? And what would I say in response?
Write these down. Reflect.
