How does democratic governance influence the success of community-led water management?

In their new article published in the Journal of Public Affairs, Dr. Indranil De Dr. Hippu Salk Kristle Nathan, Dr. Prabhat Mishra, Mr. Akhilesh Parey, and Mr. Subhasish Dutta explore how participatory decision-making, transparency, and equitable conflict resolution shape the performance of Water Users Associations (WUAs) in West Bengal.

Their findings reveal that well-governed WUAs not only ensure efficient water distribution but also evolve into salient public institutions serving communities even beyond their formal roles.

📰 Title: “Democratic Functioning of the Water Collectives and Going the Extra Mile: A Case of Water Users Associations in West Bengal, India.”
