One of the most beautiful and powerful features of the Arabic language is that it is a derivational language based on a root system. This gives it infinite flexibility and the unique ability to generate thousands of words from a single three- or four-letter root.

If we take the root (خ ر ج - kh-r-j), we can see how an entire universe of meanings is created just by changing the morphological weight (patterns).

Here is how the genius of Arabic derivation manifests in this single root:
1. Derived Nouns and Infinitives (Masdar):

Khurooj (خُرُوج): (Infinitive / Verbal Noun) – Indicates the abstract action of exiting or emerging, independent of time.

Khaarij (خَارِج): (Active Participle / Active Noun) – The person or thing that performs the act of exiting (The Exiter / Outside).

Makhrooj (مَخْرُوج): (Passive Participle) – That which has been taken out or expelled.

Makhraj (مَخْرَج): (Noun of Place/Time) – The exit, or the place/time of exiting.

2. Augmented Verbs (Derived Verb Forms) and Their Meanings:

Kharaja (خَرَجَ): (Base Triliteral Verb) – To go out, to exit.

Kharraja (خَرَّجَ): (Form II - Intensive/Causative) – To educate, train, or graduate someone (e.g., The university graduated a new class).

Akhraja (أَخْرَج): (Form IV - Causative) – To produce, take out, or evict something (e.g., I took the book out of the bag).

Takharraja (تَخَرَّجَ): (Form V - Reflexive of Form II) – To graduate oneself, or to be educated/trained.

Istakhraja (اسْتَخْرَجَ): (Form X - Request/Effort) – To extract, elicit, or exhume with effort (e.g., extracting oil or ideas).

Takhaaraja (تَخَارَجَ): (Form VI - Reciprocity) – To reach a mutual disengagement or separation (e.g., partners mutually dissolving a business agreement).

Inkharaja (انْخَرَجَ): (Form VII - Passive/Compliance) – To be opted out or separated (a less common form, but grammatically valid).
